Ireland is not “in” England. Galway is both a county and a city in far west Ireland. 23 and Me actually told you “Galway” specifically? For mine they couldn’t separate England and Ireland, or wouldn’t. BAsed on result from another DNA analyzer I give them all a D for marks.

Got, it, my sheet said predominately Ireland, surprised me as my Mothers family used to say England, I like Ireland better! I wish I was from Catholic Ireland, but I can't change the past. Turns out that after much research, I'm not from Viking ancestry but Goth. You know, the scourge of Rome? Still, 3 brothers from my family were invited to come from Southern France to go to England with William. That's my dad's side and he was half Native American anyway. Mom's family was from Lemans and Portsmouth England. Still looking for the gene that makes me want to strangle anyone who disagrees with me. I didn't used to be like that. Maybe it's just old age.

Interesting about the three brothers. Apparently it is one of the most common memes in informal genealogy. “Three brothers came to…” “Three brothers went to…” Appears in family tales more than any other detail. I have one in my family, too. Welsh brothers. Strangling people is frowned upon. Sure you don’t have some Thugee in your DNA?

Daughter asked me to do a 23 and me thing for her book she’s putting together, 25% England, with 18% of that in Ireland in a place called Galway, always did enjoy singing Irish diddes, Rest is French and German, with a smattering of Portuguese. Galway is a great place!

I was sitting on the porch finishing my cigar after walking the beast. My neighbor came to the fence and said "hey Josh, I don't mean to bug you, but do you have a bowl or 2 of pipe tobacco? I'll pay you for it." I said "yep, give me a minute, and I'm not worried about any money." About 15 minutes later I took him 18 2-3oz bags of different blends...
...I hope he has a big pipe...

He only smokes his pipe occasionally. I can't even think of the last time I seen him with it. I asked him what type of tobacco he wanted and he looked at me dumbfounded. Im pretty sure he buys "burley light without bite" from our poor excuse of a tobacco shop. So he got a mix of everything... "aged" Va's, Englishes, Burleys, a couple of Aros, and even some of my Ennerdale.
Hes a good "old" fella and I know he'd do anything for me if I asked him. Giving him some quality tobacco is the least that I can do.
And thank you Brad, that always means more to me than you know.

Wife, daughter, and I went to a state park this morning and got in a bit of hiking and bison and snake sight seeing. Smoked a Bandidos cheroot and dipped some Chetak Indian snus while at the park. Transplanted a bunch of tomatoes and got one of my cucumber beds ready before it started storming down pretty good. It's been a hectic few weeks that have interrupted a bit of my gardening but that tends to happen. Cucumbers only take 60-70 days to finish out and it's only June 9th tomorrow. I've got quite a few tomato plants already with blueberry sized little green tomatoes, and 85 plants in the ground out back and tons more to manage in pots. I'm thinking of a setup to use my whole roof balcony for potted plants as well. Have to make it to my moms this week to throw down 10-15 plants. Only sold 6 plant starts this week.

Ignorance I don’t mind as it can be cured. Stupidity is permanent. I dasn’t mention some of the current Public Stupidity on display because that could lead to dancing.

Yep, Galway was great 40 years ago. I wouldn't bet on it now. I was last in Galway 50 years ago this summer. I walked through the entire town and suburbs with a backpack. Later that summer, I revisited with friends. Waking about the town, I noticed the odor of burning rags everywhere I went. Surprised that such was the case in Galway. Somehow, I expected a higher standard of living. It was only later I discovered the lit pipe I had placed in my corduroy jacket pocket had spilled coals and was burning away the pocket. It seems I had toured the town with a trail of smoke. Typical, eh?

Think you had a bad day? An employee was killed at the Caterpillar foundry. Steven Dierkes, 39, died after falling into a crucible. Molten steel @ 2500 degrees.

Industrial accidents are a thing. People are moving away from dangerous jobs these days when they have other choices. Their having trouble hiring oil field workers, coal miners, etc. My neices husband was the first in the building after the Wymon Gordon accident. He accidentally kicked a head. He was a supervisor in another building. An hill country German, he never showed any emotion about anything and he was back at work the next day. themilitant.com/1997/612/612_20.html

That's terrible, but it reminds me of a buddy's dad who worked for Steel Dynamics growing up when I was middle school age. A guy had his head taken clean off in front of him in the plant by a swinging steel beam. I can't imagine how fast the beam was moving, or why a human would have been standing in it's path.

When you have to move big heavy stuff things happen. People make mistakes. The guys at Wymon Gordon forgot to release the tank pressure before removing the cap bolts.

Not trying to be funny, but Steens cane syrup mill while cooking would give employees 2 cases of Steens every year, one year 2 dogs got loose in the mill and fell into the syrup vat, they kept on cooking, that year no one wanted his 2 cases!
