High today of about 80 degrees with a light breeze. Not bad at all. Yeo, we had a cold snap here today. Only 89°. Felt downright chilly.

Had to go to Longview to the cardiologist today and it was 97. At least there was a breeze. Had our anniversary dinner. Got home and took a long nap.

That is cool, a really nice setup!
A couple of years ago at a local brick and mortar auction, they had a ton of N Scale stuff, but only one bidder in the audience was a railroad hobbyist, and he really cleaned up.
I was there for cigar cutters, pipe and tobacco related stuff, and did well… I was the only on in that hobby also.
It was an estate sale of a cigar and pipe smoking railroad hobbyist.
The widow got a thinner check than she should have.

We only had S or O scale trains. My friend had a nice setup on a piece of 4 x 8 plywood, but it obviously wasn't very complex. They started pushing the HO stuff but it was too small for me to get interested in. N gage was getting popular when I lost interest. I believe that we only had that big gage because it was a poor neighborhood and we weren't going to be spending much on trees and water towers. But then a rich guy died and left his train layout to the boys club and since I was an employee I got tasked with assembling it on the stage that never got used. It was on 6 sheets of plywood and some of the connections didn't meet up. We never got it to work right but I'll bet it was grand.

Love the train set up pictures! Would be great to see others. Could be a whole thread probably.
Yesterday evening I was burning some of the wood scraps from the house, (nothing treated interior boards only). Got to looking at the fire, and the wood from some of the trees I had to cut down for electric. Texted my Girlfriend and her daughter who is home for the summer from college. Told them I had dinner planned come on up. Bought up some hotdogs and marshmallows and sodas. When the sun went over the edge of the wood line we roasted hot dogs , marshmallows, combined with some fresh veggies had a lovely time. Simple, cheap , and outside. My favorite things with my favorite people.

Thanks, guys. It's in my basement, covers about a third of the space. It's in an area that's long and narrow, wrapping around three walls on a shelf style layout. I used to do HO on a smaller 4x8, modeling Western Pacific and Sacramento Northern trains. But modeling on a space that small got a bit frustrating and that's when I switched to N. I went with Japanese models simply because of the variety of trains and structures available. The Japanese love their train systems and have some of the most advanced train systems in the world.

I don’t have space for a table but I do love model building and painting. I know my friend who made a gaming table for his warhammer army cribbed a lot of technique’s from model railroading. When I was a kid we had a o scale set that belonged to my grand father. It was A lot of fun.

Perry, that is just an awesome setup with the Japanese train modeling. In fact, I know of one other big train model hobbyist pipe smoker from PipeSmokerUnlimited and I believe he does the HO style stuff you guys mention, but I don't really know a thing about it. He also builds his wife model doll house stuff in a similar vein.
Isn't Ryan Gosling far too old by now to be playing Ken? He's over 40. I feel like Ken should be like a 20-21 year old guy? Hollyweird must be lacking fresh talent.

Cannot get the voice mail to work on my Samsung Android Galaxy A12. Must have spent 25 hours on the phone with my cell carrier and Samsung. Each blames the other for why it does not work. I am in the middle where I loathe to be. Resigned to no voicemail!

Imagine if they sold a 61 year old Ken Barbie on the shelves, lol. trailboss - You've missed quite a few great movies, if so. He was in the Mickey Mouse Club along with the other famous kids back in the 90's, but he was first most famous for the movie The Notebook, which is a resounding women's favorite romance movie. It's a good movie, but it's really sad as well. Newer movies that are great with Gosling would be: The Big Short (About the 2008 financial crisis) alongside Brad Pitt, Steve Carell, and Christian Bale.
Drive (An awesome movie, he's a getaway driver and it's an adrenaline filled action movie about a botched million dollar robbery) Crazy, Stupid, Love (alongside Steve Carell, Marisa Tomei, Kevin Bacon, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone)
And as I say this, he tends to either be in extremely violent movies, or love/romance films...
Only God Forgives Remember the Titans (alongside Denzel but I recall he had a small part before he really blew up) Most recently, Bladerunner 2049 (which was great)
If you don't like violent movies it leaves you with Crazy, Stupid, Love , The Big Short, and Bladerunner 2049.
All these are good and if you want to cry like a baby with your wife, then you go for The Notebook.
Just got back from taking my daughter out to the splashpad and some scooter riding. Afterwards, a slushie and relaxing back at home in the AC.
