I have a day off, at last. How's the Patch, muchachos? I had this feeling something was missing, and now, I know what it was. Gee, nice to know I was semi-missed, Claude.

Hey, Pete. I am, I hope. We'll see. The project I was helping out on finally got out the door, but then we lost 2 developers within a week of each other. Both of them were subject matter experts on the same thing. That leaves me as the only person who still knows how that system works. (I wrote it, years ago.) It's pretty easy to pick up, but since we're short 2 people now, I'm not sure who's going to have time. We'll have to figure it out. Well, it's good to see you drop by. Hope that you'll have time to catch a breath and think about something other than work. In the meantime, hang in there.

You never know. Hand of Glory was last on last year and posted that he and his whole family were sick. Hasn't been heard from since.

From programmers to trash collectors and everything in between there just aren't enough workers. Maybe they all died of the Chinese Virus?

Too bad it wasn’t in honor of the greatest civil rights leader/ martyr that marks the day of the emancipation proclamation… Abraham Lincoln.
Juneteenth is really just George Floyd day.
A black co-worker opined the above opinion.

A black co-worker opined the above opinion. Maybe in Arizona, but it has a long history in Texas. It was always a day for black families to picnic on the beach and such. A very respectable holiday.

I still say that emancipation proclamation day would more readily celebrate what took place correctly, and that the north and south could see it as such.
But we can agree to disagree.

I’m glad to hear it has a legitimate history.

I had fairly urgent business at the County Clerk's office. Drove the 45 miles to town only to discover the county offices closed for a national holiday I never heard of. Used the time to get a lab test at the hospital which was ordered three months ago and never got to it. So, not a total waste of time. I have to drive back to town later this week.
Now I know.

I’m glad to hear it has a legitimate history. It never was an official holiday, but they have been celebrating it as long as I can remember. Anyplace I ever worked if a black person asked for the day off they got it. It was their holiday and we were fine with that. What the rest of the country does with it is none of my business.

Used the holiday from work to go overnight fishing with Dad Sunday night into Monday morning. Fish were also on vacation apparently so not much luck.
Dad and I floated around on our old boat telling stories we both have told each other 100 times, on a lake we have had memorized since I was a kid. The boat itself just as much a part of my life as my first car.
We had lines cast out , but slack from non attention. Eating bags of gas station snacks and drinking cheap sodas. I swear that lake has a magic about it. I am not proud to admit the boat had a layer of dust on it from neglect. The water washed away that dust almost as fast as it did years off of each of us. The engine cranked first try as always. I think had anyone been watching that night they would have seen a 62 year old and a 37 year old leave the dock, but a 20 year old light up a cig and young kid practically vibrating with excitement as soon as it hit water.

Received several warnings via cell phone and the internet via computer of flash floods which threaten to sweep us away in a flood of water and debris.
I sure wish it would rain....

Almost forgot… Happy First Day of Summer, y’all. Seems kinda superfluous considering the temps some of us have been having. But anyway…

I was at a shopping center last Sunday and a 5 minute cloudburst opened up...fun watching the young kids, 4 and 5ish that were dancing in the rain. I think it was their first experience.

That sounds like bliss. I'm glad you got to do it. One thing I miss, since my dad passed, is out deep sea fishing trips that we used to go on together. This is me and my dad the year before he died...
