We're heading outside for some lite yard work, before it gets too hot. When the heat runs us in, we're making bread & butter pickles. Brother-in-law gave us the contents of his garden, while he's on vacation, and we have two 5-gallon buckets of cucumbers. Happy 4th of July!!!

I had to check the date there for a second. I could have sworn it was the 3rd July.

Happy Sunday and 3rd of July! In the backyard with coffee and pipe, enjoying this beautiful summer morning. Currently 69, headed for 81 today. Gonna do a little gardening, but not in any hurry to start. Later, we're going to son's for a cookout.

Just mowed the lawn, weeded and mulched. Looking good. Might fire up a cigar shortly

Raining every day here for a week, went and got gas for Zero turn, tailgate latch broken, had to put gas cans inside, stinky, stopped at OReilly for wiper blades, lady had a hard time but managed, while talking I mentioned it was 61 yrs ago I was in S Asia, she said why didn’t you tell me you were a vet, you get 10% off, come inside and I’ll redo the ticket, I told her No Mam, but if you can get the refund for yourself , have at it! 75$ for 2 Wiper blades WOW!

Raining good and hard here. No complaint with that. Thunder booming. My Aussie girl is half in my lap. She is frightened by thunder. Normally, I would not mind but, you see, she rolled in donkey poop yesterday and stinks!

Working on painting my backlog of models. My Mom asked for me to paint one for her to have so I’m working on this one for her. Just waiting for the glue in the cape to dry then I’ll go in and do the eyes and finish the coils on the gun.

Of course I was also floored a few weeks ago when I had to pay right at $100.00 for a deck belt on my 46" snapper. (bet that you guys thought I had disappeared from this forum, but no, I'm just kind of a dull old guy that enjoys reading ya'lls posts but have so little to contribute). The most interesting thing that happens to me out here in the boonies is the smell of fresh cut hay, whippoorwills, 3 fingers of whiskey, and clouds of latakia..........

We were supposed to get some of that. Didn't happen. Getting really dry around here. I usually take the 10%,unless it's going to be a hassle like yours would be. I get my wipers at Walmart or Amazon. The auto parts stores are way too high. Sometimes 3x what Walmart charges.

July the 4th be with you. Wait, wrong holiday. Hope everyone has a great day. Brad, send some of that rain up this way. We've not had any decent rain in Northern Indiana for weeks! Too much damn watering tomatoes! 93 degrees for the high today and dry as can be.

Happy 4th, all. Mild temperatures in NorCal. Looking at low 80's for a full week. Wow. Going play a board war-game with my son today, depicting the 1943 Allied invasion of Salerno in WW2.

Spent most of the weekend dealing with water issues and the people abusing the system for their own benefit. What a bunch of greedy, selfish fools we have become. Grab, grab, grab and screw everyone else. Some figure that a holiday is time to steal someone else's water since no one is looking. Unfortunately, my job has become like a Policeman on a Beat. I gave that up in 1975 and was not expecting to do that again, LOL!

Kudos for your efforts, but time to pull back and fort up?

I can use my fists. At 6'3" and 320 pound, I am a charging Rhino, lol! Mostly, I appeal to reason and if that fails just undo whatever they did. They can try and stop me but that will not end well for them.... or possibly me. They know better. They try to slip one by. Putting my head down and charging has been my way of dealing with belligerents since my High School days. Fortunately, I never encountered a Shaolin Priest or King Fu fighter, lol!

Adding to the general level of decrepitude here, a new to me old doe goat is arriving today. A rehoming from someone who is down to one old girl. Old goats, old donkey, old dog, old man.

Didn't hear a single pop last night. Too dry for normal people to shoot them off and no public displays within 15 miles. This is a first time for me. People seem to be feeling a lot less patriotic this year too.

Same here, few pops, but small town down the road has a bang up Fourth of July shindig, wet for over a week, but before a ban on fireworks was in place.

Setting off a firework here would prolly get you hung. We’re really dry and everybody is paranoid about range fires. Rightly so. I’m too far from any “neighbors” to hear gun shots but with the price of ammo I doubt there was much, if any. There was certainly none from me. I prefer the q-u-i-e-t.

Big wind and rain storm just blew through. Temp dropped 30 degrees in about 20 minutes. We needed the rain. The cool isn’t bad either.

Pouring rain this weekend and earlier in the week. So, fireworks ban lifted county wide. Many booms and bangs last night putting my Australian Shepherd into a tizzy. She lay on top of me while I was in bed. Not allowed, usually. That is cat terrirory.
