Big wind and rain storm just blew through. Temp dropped 30 degrees in about 20 minutes. We needed the rain. The cool isn’t bad either. Could you please send it down here when you are done. People who complain about the rain have no idea.

Dogs and thunder… We just had a terrific boominflasher roll thru here. Right over the house with thunder, lightning, the works. Almost an hour of it before it got bored and went off east. Electric flashed on an off a coupla times. The boyz ignored the whole thing. I’m lucky they’re so casual about it as my lap is not big enough for two Shorthairs. I’m sure part of it is the gun training they get as puppies.

But thunder, fireworks or gunshots are ignored.

You're lucky, Ron. gunfire, fireworks, a knock at the door, the doorbell, or even a doorbell on TV, sends my beagle into a fit of barking loud as a foghorn.

Herb, it's embarrassing when we have a repairman over. She never shuts up. When friends stay with us it takes hours to get her to accept them. When the plumbers were repiping the house she barked constantly for a week. But I can take her out in the yard and shoot a pistol and get zero reaction. She's the same as yours about knocks and TV doorbells. Not as loud as a beagle though.

Buddy is not scared but curious where noise is coming from, visitors he want to jump on them, one man stopped to inquire if my Jo Boat was for sale, wife went out to his truck, he started to get out and wife said she had never heard him growl like that, told the man you’d better stay in your truck. He loves my wife, if someone would attack her, Buddy would kill them!

He can't see a blessed thing, but he must like the way everybody smells. When his favorite friends come over, he rushes to them, squealing with joy, and when they sit down, he backs up and sits on their toes, so he'll know when they're ready to leave...there is a treat jar near the backdoor, and everyone must pay the toll.

That's like my dog. King Charles spaniels are very docile. They would kill you with love. They're TOO needy though.

At the moment, I'm hiding from the heat...there's a Dutch oven full of yellow squash reducing down on the stove, seasoned with fresh grounded black pepper, salt, and a small scoop both butter & bacon drippings. After a while, I'll split it up, and mix some with fresh corn, cut from the cob, and perhaps some diced potato, to go with supper. The rest will wait in the fridge, for a squash casserole, over the weekend. We sent squash, tomatoes, and cucumbers, over to the neighbors, and now the wife is napping, as are the dogs...I'm breaking for a pipe, Life is good!

I need to get in the kitchen and start chopping veggies. I have summer squash and turnips and I don't know what else.

A coyote came into the rear yard today. Very unusual. We have a lot of them but they stay away from people, unlike those you read about in California and Colorado that fearlessly eat small dogs right out of yards. Eli told me he was there and took an instant dislike to him. But by the time I stuck a rifle thru a stealthily opened back door he was gone, of course. I think they sense evil intent at a great distance. I don’t pursue them altho many do here. But they can’t come around my house or buildings. That is a no-no that carries dire results.

Yep a couple yrs ago while living in my RV and putting my 100 yr old house together after moving it 10 miles to my farm., Kiyan started barking, went outside with my shotgun to see arse end of coyote boogieing acreoss the road to my neighbors property, she had been complaining of something scareing her chickens, I hopped over the road into her field and started running the coulee, by that time the old lady was tromping in the field, we looked and finally the old lady said look, she had good eyes, I saw a nose sticking out among the water Lillie’s, back off I told her. BYE BYE COYOTE. I thought she was gonna kiss me, her chicken problem gone, if she wouldn’t have been there I would have missed him!

Worked in and around Tucson today, I think the humidity of Kansas recalibrated my sweat trigger.
104° and 12% humidity… never broke a sweat!
Either that, or Kansas wringed all of the sweat out of me. 😉

While I was in Oregon I was sweating constantly, and its considered a relatively mild humidity to many places. Funny thing is the temps ere never really that high, it was just muggy to me.

Well, just to make sure I didn't get too relaxed, another interesting day at the office. Ransomware bit our parent company. I feel confident they're going to come up with more things to make my job difficult, as a result.

Another super hot, super humid day. We’re having classes early, then shutting down until after supper when things cool down a little before saddling up again. So this gives me the afternoons to hide out in the a/c in the cigar lounge drinking coffee and trying new sticks.

We had 48F this morning when I woke up (around 5) and it's currently 70F, with a rather cool light wind. Summers are fairly dry in Gaspésie (and winters, cold but also dry), which is good. This year, however, seems to be slightly below average temperatures.
