Mid 80s here. Some humidity noticed owing to recent rains. On the whole it is pleasant enough.
Ron, summers in Detroit are no picnic as I recall. Better try the Upper Peninsula. I understand Deer Park Township is nice. Right on Lake Superior. Not many residents on two legs. Currently 61 degrees F. Visit there via Google Earth. You might like it.

It's very mosquito'y everywhere in the Midwest. I certainly recall that being the case in Minnesota.

Anthropologists posit that the bugs (especially the black fly) drove the original land-bridge crossers south to populate the rest of the continent.

Well, so Michigan is out I guess. That just leaves Kenmare.

A nice rain here today. Some relief from the heat. Good for the crops around here. The corn looks shorter than in 'normal' years. Seems like it was put in later this year for some reason - but it wasn't because of too much rain this spring.
Started a new batch of wine today. Six gallons of Sangiovese. A friend gave me the kit. He quit making wine himself.
Prep'd everything today, to make a spinach, garlic, chicken sausage tomorrow. My own recipe. (The secret ingredient is bacon.)
Now just watching recordings of a great new series on TV - "The Old Man".

I smoked the last of my Carter Hall yesterday evening. We finally had some decent weather. It was a great smoke in one of my best and cheapest smokers - my Mr Brogg.

Turning into a horrible day. My little sister called me to say her husband passed away during the night. Complete shock and surprise as he’s in good health. Trying my best to be the good older brother without hovering over her and her kids. Waiting around marking time is never my strong point.

We hit 102 yesterday with a heat index of 111. Today they are forecasting 104/114. Small chance of rain tomorrow. 🥵🔥

I posted this on Facebook for my neighbors to read. " After two months and one week of working seven days per week, fielding complaints, demands, requests, bitching, crying, wailing, I am taking Quiet Time. This means I will not take phone calls, emails, or messages. I will not receive visitors, now matter how loudly or how long they honk their horns at my front gate. Regular service will resume in a day or two."Note: This does not apply to anyone here, of course.

(I see you there, larfing and larfing…) I get $27 per day. Does not matter if it is a one hour day or a ten hour day. Finally, I get time to haul my over flowing trash bin to the waste transfer station!!! Clearly, I am not in it for the money. It is an elected position which keeps peace and order. I am certain you know how people will fight over water!

Yep. Out here everything comes down to water. At least you are getting something. Just not enough. Maybe you’ll get a gold watch when you retire from ‘public service.’

Hauled arse off the hill today boss wife called fire close to home. Lucky daylight so planes and helicopters could fly and got it under control. His boy got the old beater Ford 9000 water truck and boss was headed for the D-6. A couple miles east of him and I like couple miles west of him looked bad as we headed home but looks like they were getting her under control so that is something to be grateful for.
