Hauled arse off the hill today boss wife called fire close to home. Lucky daylight so planes and helicopters could fly and got it under control. His boy got the old beater Ford 9000 water truck and boss was headed for the D-6. A couple miles east of him and I like couple miles west of him looked bad as we headed home but looks like they were getting her under control so that is something to be grateful for. Stay safe!

We were lucky this time. They got on it so we did not need to do anything.

I hope you stay safe. They just issued a no burn notice for my county today. Nobody with any sense would have burned anything in the past month. Had a big grass fire about a mile south of us a couple of days ago.

A friend of mine lives in Mariposa county California, and the fire is not a result of lightning strikes.
I swear that California has arsonists doing the dirty work, I just hop like everything else in California, it does not spread east.

Hoping for a favorable outcome. We had a real nasty pair of wildfires east of us over the mountains. Fortunately, the smoke was here but the fire moved north and further east. After a couple of months and something like a half million acres burned, we got enough rain and winds calm enough for the firefighters to prevail.

Trying to get the old oven range out of the kitchen so the new-to-me used replacement can go in. At 71, it is not as easy to do these things, between lousy eyesight and arthritic hands. Not complaining just realizing my limitations have moved closer.

Not complaining just realizing my limitations have moved closer. Do it an inch at a time. I wish I could help but my arms aren't long enough. At least you won't over heat like I would if I tried to get to the mailbox.

Hoping to round up some assistance .

Hotter that Phoenix! We hit 111 today. Probably more miserable in Texas with the humidity though.

Turning into a horrible day. My little sister called me to say her husband passed away during the night. Complete shock and surprise as he’s in good health. Trying my best to be the good older brother without hovering over her and her kids. Waiting around marking time is never my strong point. Sorry to heard this. My condolences.

Hope all having a decent weekend so far, much good sympathy for those in the huge heat regions out West. Full walks earlier, Quorum 6x50 "torpedo" shape for company (finish later outside). After the Ed feeding, Apertif in Ashton Magnum & continue with the thick Sunday paper. Nothing important planned for rest of the day.
71, to 81 eventually, should stay mostly sunny
Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY 81, upright, all know the rest

I’m independent as all get-out, just not as capable as in days of yore. Yet I continue to delude myself. Glad you got some help. I ask, but the boyz refuse to do any heavy lifting.

New to me stove came without power cord. So, I am soldering connectors onto 10 gauge Romex for a four wire connection. Could do a three wire pig tail but this is 2022 and four wires seems about right. Then, a wire nut connection to the 8 Gauge supply wires coming out the wall. I should put in a junction box but...... A receptacle and plug would also be nice. If I have the parts on hand, I might install them. That way the stove can come out easily for cleaning.

Been hot in these parts. 107° today. But like “they” say— the low humidity helps. A little anyway. From about 10am on the dogs and I are inside with the A/C, which is a life-saver. Maybe literally. It’s full dark and 85° now, T’row to be another hot one but we’re getting used to ‘em that way. Maybe I’ll get a chance to take my buds down on the creek so they can play in the cold spring water and have a little fun.

After wrestling with 8 gauge and 10 gauge wire for a while, I was able to make a pig tail for the new-to-me range and connect it. Works OK, although the large burners are finicky and it goes into error mode. This is an LG electronic marvel, lol! Hoping to try the oven tomorrow. Pan grilled a steak and potatoes for supper on it! Fast heat up and HOT!
