Sorry to hear that Charlie. I can come drive you around if you want to load and unload. 😉. I got paid full salary for my last 2 breaks, but at least I was on a motorcycle. It's cheaper for the company to pay your salary than for them to deal with the workman's compensation insurance. I thought that my employer was doing me a huge favor until I figured that out. Wishing you a fast and complete surgery free recovery. It’s a work comp claim, I pay a supplemental of $7 every two weeks to get to 100%. Too good not to pass up, and as long as I am employed, life insurance with a big payout for the wife and me is dirt cheap. I had term life insurance several years ago through Transamerica… $70 per quarter at the end of the 20 year term, it was $700 a quarter! That was a non starter. Yeah, my term life was $45/m for years and I had a birthday and it jumped to $560/m. This was a $100k policy .

We had some crazy flooding in Apache Junction locally, almost 3 inches in less than an hour yesterday.
And I am glad I wasn’t up on the reservation, it was a mess.

Broke my Tibia plateau earlier this week in Pahrump Nevada on the job, so I will be off work for awhile... Slipped off the liftgate 4 feet up, and my right leg was locked, it took the full force like a worn shock absorber. It hurt, but thought I might be able to work it out and finished the last six stops. By the time I made it to the clinic in Vegas, I could barely drag myself through the doors. The knucklehead physician assistant there said nothing was broke, just a sprain as he looked at the x-ray, never looked at my leg. Gave me a bent knee brace and crutches, drug myself into the cab of the truck and drove it a block to the hotel. No meds, but I iced it for the night and rode shotgun back with another driver...every bump in the 5 hour ride was torture. Halfway back, I got a call from an actual doctor from that clinic, he was in a panic...."We were wrong, something is broken, you need to see a specialist ASAP!" The wife met me at work, back off to the local clinic that is a well ran one by the same organization. An old salty PA told me, I don't know how anyone could miss this fracture, it is plain as day! Straight brace, and yesterday saw a specialist. CT scan on Monday, consult next Thursday...he said initially he doesn't think surgery is necessary, but cannot say definitively until he sees the CT scan. I will be off work for some time, but at least I pull 100% of regular pay. Ouch! I cringed when I read this! Wishing You a Complete and Speedy Recovery!

Just found out that we had a forest fire about a mile away behind our house yesterday. Started by lightning before the rain started. Thank God for the rain, 6 volunteer fire departments and the Texas A&M Forestry Service. Burned 50 acres before they got it under control. Those dry 100 foot pine trees really burn. We just never looked out the back window.

Hope you heal up soon, Charlie. I think I had one of those last year but did not know what it was. Took a long time to heal. Much pain. Now I am fine, sort of.
Ron, keep a lid on that fire! We do not need a repeat of what happened in NM down your way!

We had some crazy flooding in Apache Junction locally, almost 3 inches in less than an hour yesterday. And I am glad I wasn’t up on the reservation, it was a mess. A friend of my wife's posted video of the shallow river now running thru her yard.. he gets this every time we have a bad monsoon storm. They live in a low spot in AJ.

We've been pretty dry in Glendale, but the east side has been getting hammered. I watched the videos of Apache Junction the other day... crazy stuff.
I hope you recover quickly and fully Charlie.
(I'm really struggling today)

Big day today! An Excavator due here shortly. THis one has a rotary mower (Brush Hog) mounted on the front boom so it can mow side to side. We will clear irrigation ditch banks of the water loving plants which sprang up since the last cutting end of May. THis is our effort to deny Beaver subversives cover for their infiltration and illegal diversion of irrigation water meant for local farms. We have tried détente. Now is the time for action!!!

Mower lasted five hours before his blades looked like they had been blunted on an anvil. Too many hidden basalt block boulders. I need to flag them as they are not visible when overgrown with red willow. So, operator back tomorrow with fresh blades.

Can’t you set traps? We had a Beaver infestation in our neighborhood damaging trees. We’ve sporadic Beaver issues in the past but this time they were damaging trees away from the shoreline last fall and we hired a trapper who got them gone in just a few days. I wrapped the trees that could damage the house with chicken wire just in case they return when we’re away.

Anyone have any experience with wild rabbits? We have a little brown bunny with a white tail in the yard and we don't know if it is a good or bad thing. We do enjoy watching her. She just runs around for no apparent reason. I suppose that a hawk will make it moot. I searched Google for images and got this. I also asked about how fast they multiply. I hate Google sometimes.
This is what I was searching for.
I had to specify NE Texas bunnies.

As long as they're not munching your garden or something, live and let live. I mean, there was that one dangerous rabbit, but it got done for by the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, so I think you're safe.

Ear infection is coming along well now - doing much better...dosed with a heavy head cold though, which caused little sleep last night. I feel like a zombie today. Hard to concentrate!
