Snowing! Hard and fast. What fun on the Twoth of May! My bets for the Nenana Ice Classic didn’t win me anything because it still hasn’t melted enough. It also snowed up here last week. Schizophrenic weather is fun.

Beautiful mild, breezy clear weather in Northern Cal. Just need to light my pipe inside before I go out.

The results of y’day’s 2” snow storm are gone. 52° and climbing. Schizo episode over, for now anyway.

Horrible winds, massive dust devils and dust storms. The valley is dry as an old bone. No wonder much of NM is burning.

Spring turmoil continues. In our recent, annual, May craziness 6 miles west of me got 15” of the white stuff. Interstate closed. Rain last night, and we needed it. My road in is all but closed by good ol’ prairie mud— the gift that keeps on giving. Just when I got my deck all fitted out for contemplative piping and sipping the bottom drops out of the temp. 40° right now, alas. Supposed to “get nice” this weekend but I’ll believe it when I see it.

Rain would be welcome here. Especially if the rain is followed by calm and cool weather so it is not all sucked back up into the atmosphere. Like living on Mars!

Sitting at dr’s office getting ready for my first monthly rehab session. After this, two more to go. Gosh… can’t believe it’s May already.

Ah! It was 65° at 330pm. The deck at last. Eli and I are enjoying our now-favorite space. He is a true be-with and lies at my feet as I enjoy the air and the view. What simple bliss. The air is alive with birdsong. A termagant robin shrieks and complains, sounding like she is on my shoulder but I can’t find where she is in the trees around us. An angry bluejay screams and hurl insults but nobody replies. Two doves sing a soft and plaintive elegy. No perfume yet from the slowly budding trees, but soon. Meanwhile all is perfect just as it is.

Spent several hours on the deck today. I should have mowed the Park but that can wait until t’trow. The trees are budding out very quickly now. By mid-May it should be a fait accompli. Lime green they mostly are now. [The “Park” is a flat grassy area of about 1/4 acre directly behind the house. It is frequented by deer, turkey, squirrels, rabbits, etc. Eli scans it for an hour or more every morning from the dinette window.]

Currently in Québec, in our summer residence in Gaspésie, taking care of some repairs. On a trip in town to buy some supplies, I managed to take a photo of a seal laid down on a rock awash, during low tide (that's when they hang out and enjoy some sun).

Went in for my scheduled patience on the van oil change break inspection etc. Turns out the rack and pinion had a major leak. So were getting that fixed. But on the bright side I recieved a small inheritance from my grandmothers estate that will pay for the repair. I feel like that was her looking out for me.

I assume you have a Red Flag day. Good luck! Yes, the NWS is calling this a Red Flag Warning Day. As I recall, under NASCAR rules, I am suppose to head for the Pit?

The kids are going back to their moms at 12 today. This will be the most time I've had to myself since I had COVID. Between work all week and having the kids every weekend, I'm not used to NOT having my whole day pre-scheduled. It's really throwing me off...

Called the kids, wrecks and festivals around the Atachalaya bridge are something we don’t want the kids on the highway. They will come later, 2 grandkids have exams, the third is 600 miles away. They have their Momma in their hearts, this I know. Held my Mom while they unplugged her , whole family around, this day makes me relive it. If your Momma is still here , cherish her.
