I'm cleaning and reorganizing my closet/cellar and I have at least 50 empty jars. This isn't good. Jars have a purpose. Taking up space is not that purpose. It sounds like you have a smoking problem. A good way to correct that is to send me your most prized/ rare/ aged blends…. Here to help you out, bro! You got it! 5 lbs of Sunset Rum and Dolce De Leche headed your way!!! Hahaha

Kinda nice today, getting my right leg back, mowed the grass, edged it, blowed the leaves and watered the plants.
A tired knee, but it felt good, the curb appeal is back.

Any first-hand recommendations, Charlie? I use an in-sole made by "Herman Survivors". If you remember that old line of boot makers. The In-sole has been a great help in my light canvas boots which are worn during irrigation season here. Another In-sole I like is a 1/2 inch all wool felt pad which I order from a source in Canada. I have used those in my boots for 50 years. that is a nice pair you have. They look quite comfortable for the long haul! A fresh pair of in-solesis always a good idea.

I have several friends who swear by Herman Survivor boots. They are serious hunters who hunt mostly in Louisiana. My friend who hunts the most, including 3 African safaris, wears a 30 year old pair of Lucchese lizard cowboy boots. And he is totally silent as he moves through the woods, making me sound like a stampeding buffalo in comparison. The cowboy boot guy only weighs about 155 pounds, while all the others are my size or bigger. (265 lbs)

Poachers REALLY irk my arse!
I took the dog for a walk today, as usual. We live on a dead end dirt road. It's pretty private and all family, it's even named "Golden Rd." our last name. At the bottom of the hill there is a creek. Down in the creek is a decent sized doe, shot through the shoulders, with its back cut open and about 12" of the backstrap cut out of each side. I found the deer, blood trail (on the road), and boot prints. I immediately reported it to DNR.
I don't hunt anymore, but I'm all for those that do, LEGALLY.
Whoever did this, I hope nothing but the worst for them. Taking the life of an animal for such a small amount of meat is completely senseless.
Rot, you piece of crap.
I'll be watching, so will a trail cam.
*rant over*
Humans are disgusting creatures

Agreed, Josh. Poachers are scum. We’ve had some here but we clamped down on it pretty fierce. I keep a tight rein on my place. We have an ally in the trespassing laws here which do not require posting a property to charge a trespasser. If you are on someone’s property without specific permission you are a trespasser. Up-country a little further you’re likely to get shot at if you trespass. Sounds about right to me.

Couple of ladies from the Appraisal District came by this morning. I gave them a mock evil glare and they said they were just doing their job. Then we had a pleasant chat. The dog barked the whole time.

A day like that I would be eating raspberries and cream, too. Here it is like the Oklahoma Dust Bowl of the 1930s. Howling winds and darkness from huge dust clouds as the soil is blown off of the desiccated fields and into the air. Any sand worms? Shal-Hulud

The dog barked the whole time. You are not paying enough. Yeah, but we're old and the value is locked. They are going to raise the taxes by 10 percent every year, but we only pay a small fraction of them. People over 65 have their home value frozen and the rate is discounted by about 90%. I should have asked them why they started trick or treating, did they want candy, and that I thought the car was a cure costume.

As a veteran my homestead valuation is locked, that doesn’t stop the shooting range East of me to dilute my value on my 41 acres to half of the value.

Just found Malaria on a patient's blood smear! Bad news for them, obviously, but pretty exciting for me. Here in Arizona, it's a rare site and we confirmed they had recently traveled to Africa.

Congratulations? I'm sure it's exciting for the patient too. I believe that there are new and effective treatments for that now. The way your luck is running you will find bubonic plague any day now. 😉

Taylor Swift seems to be everywhere. I just saw that she is the first person to have all the top 10 spots on the Billboard whatever. Anyone here listen to her "music"? I've tried to listen to several of her songs and couldn't get through even one. They aren't anything like rap, but I just hear, nothing. Boring, trite and uninteresting.

Even with the crazy music I listen too. T.S. is too much for me. I can only listen to her whine about her love life for .0437 seconds. I'm not sure what genre she is anymore, but if she's still "country" that makes sense. New country (~2010+) is horrible pop music. Also, my "angry music" has been toned down lately. Funny you mention the plague. I was talking to ex wife #1 (is it bad that I number them? 🤣) this morning and she's feeling awful. She's been tested for everything and it all came back negative. I told her not to worry, it's just the plague, nothing major.

Ron the property has been in my family for over 100 yrs, no range, Sherriff and Grandson of the range property collided and bypassed necessary rules for ranges, gave gifts to my neighbors, furniture, maybe money, Grandson came and tried to bribe me, ran him off. Got peppered while bushhogging cousins part of the land. Nothing came out of that , then got charged with trespassing on range, hired a lawyer, Judge dropped charges as they had no evidence. Neighbors couple cows died due to lead on ground, sale barn stopped buying cattle around shooting range. Range is still going on at reduced capicity due I guess to pandemic and shooters dwindling money problems. The 81 acres should be worth over a million dollars, but range has halved that, Not interested in selling, got all I need, kids probably will, want to lead a peaceful life till the end.

Well, a REALLY GOOD lawyer could probably remedy the situation, but it would cost a fortune. Then there are the "environmental factors". But nobody has never heard of any corrupt politicians in southern Louisiana.

Out of plain ol’ common decency shooting ranges need to be located as remotely as possible. On second thought, I wouldn’t mind building one next to Schumer’s place.

Out of plain ol’ common decency shooting ranges need to be located as remotely as possible. On second thought, I wouldn’t mind building one next to Schumer’s place. There was one in Harris County that I started shooting at in the 60s. It was all country back then and they had big berms out past 200 yards. Then they built 100s of houses right up next to it. People complained, and they reduced the maximum range to 100 yards. They were there first.

You are a better man than me, the most I could ever stomach was a few verses. She is talented though, anyone that motivates people to part with their money for what she is selling has marketable talent. On her statements on modern culture, and world events, I find her lacking severely. but I suppose the environment that she rocketed to fame, had I been in the same boat, i might have made the same decisions...hopefully with age will come wisdom for her....I doubt it though.
