Out of plain ol’ common decency shooting ranges need to be located as remotely as possible. On second thought, I wouldn’t mind building one next to Schumer’s place. There was one in Harris County that I started shooting at in the 60s. It was all country back then and they had big berms out past 200 yards. Then they built 100s of houses right up next to it. People complained, and they reduced the maximum range to 100 yards. They were there first. I tried for many years to get the BLM to lets us set one up on their managed property. Way far away out on the llano. Nope, never could get the Bureaucrats to agree to anything. The local officials thought it a good idea since people shoot up BLM land all the time and this would have been an organizing driver. So hard to get people in their remote offices interested in anything. So, they finally declared the area a "National Monument" and locked the gate.

We have the opposite problem out here in Mesa. There's a range 10 minutes from my house. It has been there since the land within 10 miles in any direction was unimproved no houses no buildings. Now there are developments near enough to complain about noise. We are talking home within a mile of the entrance gate to the range. Eventually the range will be shut down, unless they have good lawyers. Because people move into an area then decide what was there first should go away for the better of the new population. Same thing is happening to airports all over. Flight paths get changed because some idiot built houses in the flight path and the people who moved in dont like the noise. wouldn't t be nice of Ranges and Airports were built in remote areas all the time so farms and homes were safe. And at the same time people didn't decide to build and move in on those same places then villainize them and try to shut them down? Just saying.

People build in bear country and then complain about bears in their yard. Then there’s the PA woman who asked the Game Commission to move the Deer Crossing sign because too many deer were getting killed there.
Einstein was right.

I thought it was a national thing, but I should have known better.

Barnum, "One can never go far wrong underestimating the American public."

I still think Einstein was better. “The two most common elements in the universe are hydrogen and human stupidity.”(Plus, I think you’re misquoting Barnum.)

"no one ever went broke underestimating the taste of the American people" Widely attributed to American author and social critic H. L. Mencken (1880–1956) but not found in his published works, so the source and original form of this expression are not known with certainty.

In Texas there is a law protecting the ranges. I thought it was a national thing, but I should have known better. We might have something like that here in Arizona, I am not sure. I just know the complaining issues are there. I used to be a member of the range. I had to cut back on expenses a couple of years ago and haven't renewed for other personal reasons.

"There's a sucker born every minute" is a phrase closely associated with P. T. Barnum, an American showman of the mid-19th century, although there is no evidence that he actually said it."

The gun club I hope to join is located between the US Army Depot and the old Lone Star Ammunition plant near Texarkana. The old plant is being leased to new ammunition companies.

Was going to pick up walnuts today got permission from a guy who does about 400 acers but Boss called with some work so I go make some firewood today for him. I have learned how to run chainsaw and smoke my pipe this summer so it will be a good day. Also ordered two sets of tires yesterday WOW! Things are a little expensive these days but am thankful I had the funds to get them.

The president of Goodyear is saying that the supply line and prices are going to create a tremendous shortage of tires. Be glad too that you got them when you could. Tires are made from oil, just like many parts of a Tesla.

Exxon makes butly rubber for tires, carbon black is produced at special plants, it increases hardness of tire. During WWII it proved helping to win the war.

There aren't enough rubber trees to make tires for all the cars. There is some natural rubber, but it's a minor component.

I gave out bids for 3 jobs today and then picked up my little critters. I'll be back on track if I can pick up 2 of the 3 jobs. I already have 1 that will be ready to start next week.

Nice, sunny day today. Not too chilly. Classes went good. Only two more days left until we close down for the winter. Which is good…I need a break. Not from the physical, but I’m pretty well socialized out.

Two nights out for coyote interdiction and they are leading on the scoreboard. 0/0. A long process and they have the better odds, being smarter than I am. Seeing quite a few deer though and they are getting hornier by the minute. This warm autumn is throwing everything off. Rifle deer starts Saturday after next and by then the rut may be in high gear, though the weather boffins say it will still be unseasonably warm. But nature will get tired of waiting (so will the bucks!) and the schedule will be fulfilled. Meanwhile, I plod along and the coyotes continue to point and chuckle.

I took the littles to their doctor appointment this morning. Austin needed 4 shots and they all needed a flu shot. That sure was fun. I've had some concerns about Alice. She's been showing a lot of signs of Autism, so I talked to the doctor about that. He said everything mentioned is on the list of signs in a young child. We got a referral for a children's psychologist.
The goal is to get her the help/therapy she needs as early as possible. Autism or developmentally behind, there are things that can be done to help her out, and new things that I'll need to learn.
