Raining all week. Solar fence chargers struggling to keep batteries charged, Coffee struggling to keep me charged. Humidity at its max , cabinets needing painting. Increasing my dry time. Making calculations on days to paint, sand, skip a day, paint, sand. Two coats primer, two coats paint. Trying to be in the house by Jan. I have heard "like watching paint dry" many times in my life, I never knew it could feel so urgent.
Evenings have been spent painting cabinets, sealing grout, whatever else that can be done. Listening to the rain on the metal roof, making its way down the gutters. The sound not in a rhythm , more like a band warming up. Each drop playing its favorite parts on its journey down. Seeing the fan on the porch through the widow, moving in the wind, the pull chains making a slight tink every so often. The brush and roller moving full of paint and the small suction sounds as the wood drinks it up. Cats meowing at the door, rebelling against the new policy of no cats inside while painting. The rubber soles of tired boots shuffling on the concrete. Buttons on my shirt clinking against everything like little laughs taking off paint as I move. Comments have been made on "dont know how you can be in the quiet house without a radio" I find I have an orchestra around me if I just breathe and listen

Been raining here in the Sierra foothills. Snowing at higher elevations. I say keep it coming. Puts a dent in the drought.

Highs mostly in the high 70s and over 90% humidity. We're having to run the AC and the fireplace because of the humidity in the house.

Hoping to get the truck started this cold morning so I can make the fifty-mile drive to the MD I have been waiting on for five weeks. Always something it seems. Let us up the block heater warms enough in the remaining time! Noi joie so far and the two batteries are showing signs of depletion. Will he make it?!

Those are great photos, Charlie. Today it was -7, which is chilly enough for me. Sitting in my study with a hot water bottle on my knee and an oversized hoody. That combo is perfect here and i don't have to put the heat on for my study. -7 Celcius? Or Fahrenheit? Either way far colder than this old fart can take! (Hey I just turned 54 I can call my self old if I want )

Been busy making fudge. A Christmas time tradition. Made peanutbutter and butter pecan. Three batches of each. My wife made milk chocolate. The next day I realized that I actually wore a blister on my finger from constantly stirring the pot!

Just had bosses wife order me a pair of Sam's Club insulated "Muck" boots the knock off ones. I have not had a pair of rubber boots for a year or better. Old pair had a crack in them I should have patched them but I chucked them. So this is a big upgrade for me. Used Bosses a few months ago while washing off his new heel boom.

That fudge looks amazing!
I'm just back from a quick trip out to take some photos. I couldn't get motivated this morning. It was cold and I had no inspiration. Was good to get out though.
Eldest daughter is working sound at the school play of Sound of Music, so we're at that tonight.

Heading to Pittsburgh for pipe club this morning. First time in almost two years so it will be good to see those folks in person instead of FB.

Got the plow on the tractor yesterday as we are experiencing snow. Hopefully it makes my life easier. Cant shovel a 180 foot driveway anymore with my shoulders being so torn up.

Made it down to the pipe club meeting yesterday and got to try some McClelland Deep Hollow and the original Frog Morton. Both were outstanding and I really wish I had started sooner so I could have stocked up on these before they went away. I also picked up a new pipe (new to me). It's a Northern Briars Rox Cut Rhodesian. This is a massive pipe and took me 2 1/2 hours to smoke a bowl with it.

Great to hear you guys started your own pipe club up. The Arizona pipe club was just 4 of us for a long time. If you guys want to grow the pipe club at some point, we have been there done that, and I can offer advice.

That Rhodesian is a looker Ken. A great one to load up a bowl and watch a movie with.

You're not Kidding Charlie. I set it down to get a quick shower and it was still lit when I came back. I was surprised it was available being there were only three of them made custom for gentlemen that wanted them. One of them passed away 4 years ago and the estate got settled so some his massive collection is starting to come available. I'm waiting to see what tobacco's are coming available. I guess he had McClelland's cellared deep.

Taking a break from work.
I pretty much had to mark all the forums read to get caught up, so if I've missed important stuff, I apologize in advance if I say anything awkward or inappropriate. More than usual, I mean.

Kinda cool… My granddaughter has made 3 calls so far. www.womansday.com/life/a38192606/santa-claus-phone-number/“ Upon calling the number, you'll be directed to Santa's voicemail. (He's too busy to answer right now because he's working hard on your Christmas gifts!). ” “ If you make the call using a mobile phone, Santa will even text back with a phone number that allows parents to access his secret wishlist, so you can help him out by doing the shopping ahead of Christmas Eve.”
