Kids are a helluva better looking than dad! I digress...same case with me. Wait till you have grandkids, it is even more distinct. Man... don't even go there! I had kids by the time I was the age of my oldest 2. I'm not old enough to hold that title. Luckily, neither of them have any interest in having children, yet. Next up will be my 13 year, and I'm pretty sure I don't have to worry about that for a while. I have granddogs and grandcats, that suits me just fine! |

Penn Valley Pipe Club was an enjoyable time today. Got to try some new blends listed in the WAYS thread also came away with a bag of gifts a tin of SPC Plum Pudding Christmas Spirit and SPC Plum Pudding. A jar of homemade Peach jam and mixed strawberry jam. As always sperrytops a most wonderful host nice warm fire going in the stove hot coffee and pizza. Certainly an enjoyable afternoon smoking a pipe with friend. Also Gypo left me with a 1/3 cord of split oak. Thanks so much, Gypo. |

It was -6 here last night. Place is like an ice-rink, but the trees and bushes are pretty. I slipped when getting out of the car this morning and went on my arse...Wife just laughed and took a photo. I didn't injure myself as I kinda slipped out of the car and slid onto the ground.

We are now in the grip of an official “blizzard.” Snow and wind. Radar shows it is forecast to last two days. The elec is flickering off and on already. I have my oil lamps ready and all flashlight batteries charged up. Nothing left to do but wait it out.

No pun intended but it Looks as though my eye doctor appointment, 50 miles away, in Taos will not be happening. Too cold to start the old diesel engine. It has been plugged in for four hours but not enough. I cannot find the heating pad I usually place on top of the fuel filter to help warm it up.

Main breaker popping all day.
Currently, narrowed to the Block Heater for the truck and/or the Hot Water Heater. Unplugged the truck until tomorrow and restarted the electric hot water heater. Need hot water just now!

I actually went face first, but I was never more than a few inches off the ground. I literally slipped out of the car door (you can see my leg still in the car).
I was on my back laughing at the time the photo was taken.

Blizzard seems to have petered out. Radar shows we are apparently done with it. Good riddance. With the wind it’s hard to tell what we actually got, but drifting is significant. Upcountry they got 2’ or so. Strange temp stability. Been 18° for 24 hours straight.

Had to buy a ice scrapper as I had ice on my windows for the 2nd day in a row. Now watch it not happen tomorrow.
