Scheduled for -18° in coming days. My road in is still drifted shut and still no plow in sight. Not looking forward to sitting on my cabless tractor and plowing it myself with a fierce N wind chewing at my ears. Well-provisioned, the dogs and I will sit and wait for the county boys to do the job.

It's my birthday today - at least for another 30 minutes. My wife got me a nice "We The People" decanter and glasses. Very nice. It's hard to the detail in the picture, but the engraving is real - actually cut into the glass, not fake/painted on. The decanter is only 450ml, but the glasses are big compared to other whiskey glasses I have. My wife didn't realize she ordered a small decanter, so she just ordered the 750ml version to go with the set. Filled the decanter with Noah's Mill Bourbon from Willet. 114 proof - but so smooth you don't notice.

Had a birthday myself last week. Wife got me a 1.75L bottle of Eagle Rare. This thing towers above every other bottle on the back bar.

Happy birthday fellas!
Getting 3 little ones up, fed, and ready for the day is pure chaos! I dropped them off at their grandmother's this morning at around 8:45. She was shocked that they were changed, hair was brushed, they were fed, and had their teeth brushed. I think I was more in shock that she was in shock. I mean, isn't that the way it's supposed to be?
Trying to finish up a paint job today. Everytime I finish one thing at this house, something else gets added. As long as the checks keep coming, I have no problem with that.
Have a great Friday!

I got an email from HR, today, 10 days before Xmas. The subject line said, "Welcome to the team, Jesus!" I thought we were taking this whole Xmas thing just a bit too literally. Nah. We hired a Haysoos. If they set a place for you at the table along with the Twelve and that rabbi, you will know you are in!

Well-provisioned, the dogs and I will sit and wait for the county boys to do the job. The best idea. Let those fellows who are paid do the work and deal with the problems. If it is any consolation, my 2006 tractor has a cab and a heater. I broke the rear window twice. So, now I just leave it open. The heater no longer works. Somehow, the hot coolant never quite rises to the top of the cab where the heat exchanger is located.

No cab, no heater. Wouldn’t start, dead batt. Have a charger on it now. Just walked down to the road. Not sure my 1949 Ford can handle the job. Drifts look like 2-3’ and rising. Gonna give it a try though if I can get Harrison started.

No way the rfoad can be cleared with as 2 WD 1949 Ford tractor. At best you need chains on the rear wheels and ballast. Just saying. Let the County do it.

Pretty sure you are kee-rect, John. But I still need to get ‘er started to keep it from drifting closed after the county clears it. Fierce NW winds! County says they are coming today or t’row. We shall see.

The High temp of the day is +17 degrees (F).
Heavy wool trousers and shirt over thermal underwear. An Ushanka on my head. Flaps up for indoor wear.

Watching the news last night pretty much everything east of Arizona is headed for a deep freeze going into Christmas.
We will be in the high 60’s or so they say for us.

We shall see. Let them make the initial cuts through the snow then you can finish to your specs. If it is going to blow out of the north that will be cold. With respect attendant, you have no business exposed to that cold unless an emergency.

Ugh. Stay warm, stay safe, stay inside! That photo reminds me of the winter of 2005-2006. I could not reach my cattle for feeding and watering. The Ford F-250, even with 4 WD, could not make it through. My tractor was an IH 544 2-WD. But, I had this old timer running and it made it through with 250 gallons of water and 50 bales of Alfalfa. Low range 4-WD and Compound Low First Gear. It clawed its way through the bumper deep snow. I thought of the Red Ball Express re-supplying the 101st Airborne at Bastogne.

I get so tired of the guy's on the Ram forum complaining about the 12 inch screens on their Power Wagons not working right, or the heated seats not being warm enough.
