It's what used to be called bean bags. Some bright person gave it an obscene name and now drunken adults get their perverted pleasure from it.đđ I'm most certainly not among the drunken adults but the name does have a creepy vibe to it. There is some money to be made playing and I at least make my entry fee's back or better most weeks playing and the tournament I just played in the previous month finished 2nd and made a nice chunk of change. I really enjoy playing and it gets me off my butt and out of the house this time of year. All this after I spent years developing my quarter, washer, and horseshoe pitching. đ€Żđ€Ź

Johnâs comments about the âsocial contractâ are accurate, I think. Nationally, we have changed a lot, and not for the better. But there may be local pockets of hope. We are in a cold spell now, -6 as I write and -27 forecast for Thursday. And yâday my furnace failed. Sunday. I called the local HVAC guy for advice, hoping he might have a trick to share that would get the thing started. He said he would come out and look at it. Sunday! I told him No, I could make out with the fireplace and wait âtil Monday. He came out anyway. Fixed it. Iâm not saying everybody out here is like that. But itâs gratifying how many are. So weâre not completely lost, just in real bad shape right now. Thankfully we are still in the 1950s here in Linden.

I told him No, I could make out with the fireplace and wait âtil Monday. He came out anyway. Fixed it. Iâm not saying everybody out here is like that. But itâs gratifying how many are. So weâre not completely lost, just in real bad shape right now. That is a good man. Back around 2010 or so, my heating boiler failed. The house was built in 1996 with a circulating hot water heating system. Room registers. It worked great. LPG was not expensive and the house was warm as toast in winter. Then it died. I could not get anyone of the plumbers, mechanical contractors, heating types, to make the trip out here. It is about 100 miles round trip. No one would come out. I would go into town and beg them at their offices to help me as it is cold here. Nope. Not one would do it. I offered to pay mileage. Nope. I had money and paid my bills. So, I had to abandon that system of heating. Since then, wood stove in the living room and electric room heaters which do not work as well. . I do not understand these people but that is the way of things here. I had the same experience after spending a fortune on kitchen range, refer, dishwasher. All top line Kitchenaide machines. The gas oven failed under warranty. Nope. The store which sold me the equipment would not send out anyone. Kitchenaide corporate could not have cared less. I finally had to disconnect and haul the oven to town for it to be repaired and then haul it home and re-install it. I can relate a dozen more experiences like this. The results are low expectations of corporations, businesses and most people here. That attitude can exacerbate the problem. We tend to receive what we expect. So, keeping a positive attitude is a challenge. This is where Faith helps. Prayer. Meditation.

John, almost sounds like youâre a white man on an Indian reservation. Race has little to do with it. Equal Opportunity Asshats exist here and most of them are not from here originally.

John, it pains me to read of your troubles. I pray that you will be able to find a solution that works...and soon. One thing about Northern Ireland is that you're never more than about 5 miles from civilisation. That might be too close for some people, though. A 50 mile radius from the centre of Northern Ireland would cover the whole of the country, and some of the Republic of Ireland too. Those are kind thoughts and I thank you for them on myt behalf. I remember The Six Counties from 1972 when I was down in Clare and visited the North. Things are better now. That was a tough time. "Armored cars and tanks and guns came to take away our sons..". I am thankful for the peace agreement. Much of my traveling in the Irish Free State was on foot. Thankfully, the Pubs, eh, I mean the villages, were not far apart.

The Irish Free State? Wow. You ARE an old guy! Mostly, I watch old movies made in Britain before the War. The Board of Censors announce the film has been approved for the United Kingdom and the Irish Free State. I got to like that name.

Spent a few hours today reloading ammo. 400 rounds of .223 caliber. These are the first I've reloaded since I started annealing the brass. I could tell the difference. It felt much smoother when I seated the bullet - as opposed to using more force and feeling the bullet kind of "grind" as it was seated. Should be more accurate too.

Staying at a mom and pop hotel in Tombstone tonight⊠the route usually ends up in Sierra Vista or Douglas, I put a force stop on it.
Steakhouse and a visit to the cigar shop⊠any Earpâs in town try to take me gun, they are going to have a problem.

Packing, and (Hopefully but not likely) Early to bed. We're due at the airport at 4 am so we basically have to get up in the middle of the night (3 am)... It will be worth it though, heading to Oregon to spend Christmas with my mother, my older brother, and my younger sister. I haven't seen my sister in at least 25 years, and my brother in probably near the same. I did see mom back in June when we went back to lay my father to rest.

Safe journeys, I hope that the trip sparks something in the family where you can all commit to getting together more often. I have made it a point to fly out to my brothers at least once a year to eat their groceries, or they can come and eat mine⊠just 3 or 4 days at a time, more past that things might get ugly!đ Seriously, we always have a good time.

Thanks, Charlie! I hope my brother, sister, and I find a way to make it a regular occurrence. We need to stop being the scattered family we are before we run out of time.

I am certain your Nebraska Prairie Sod Roof will hold up as will you, inside beside your buffalo chip fire, smoking a good bowl in a favorite pipe.

Insulating the second half (bottom) of the greenhouse in preparation for the 4 degrees forecast Thursday night. Wind chill of -14. Taking a break before the rush to the finish. It's 51 out there now but I'm sweating like a pig.

Heading out in a little bit. Going to cram two days of jobs into one. We're supposed to get hit with this storm early tomorrow mostly ice to start out. Not calling for a lot of snow but high wind and freezing temps. Just don't want to be out in it if I don't have to be.

Yesterday I had to visit a man who had his leg amputated, so I made the most of the trip to Belfast and saw my mum for a few hours and then met up with some strangers from the internet to take photos (the exact thing I warn my children NOT to do). It was a good night, but at the Christmas markets all I wanted to do was eat the stuff that I could smell. It was amazing...but I'm 2 stone down since October, so I didn't have a bite.

That killer blizzard turned out to be a nothingburger. Hooray for that. The radar now shows us in the clear for several days and with temps in the 40s on the way the dogs and I are living in a happy (and warm!) soddy.

I have a Series 1 Apple Watch. The small one. I paid less than $200 for it a coupla years ago. Yâday, mysteriously, the screen came loose. No damage, it just suddenly separated. Still works great. I contacted Apple and the repair cost for just putting the screen back on securely is $220. More than I paid for the thing. Silly! I was informed that the cost was a result of it being out of warranty. I informed them that the cause was âGreed.â Now looking for alternatives.

Such a quaint and pleasant system of weights and measures they had over there before the Frogs, Wogs, Eyeties and Jerries with their Metrics arrived on the scene.

The same day I bought it I had the cord plugged in the back and stepped on it ripping the port. I called them, the repair was exactly what I paid for it at Walmart. Boxed it up, and the Walmart employee was only concerned with the screen having no blemishes⊠returned the âdefective unitâ, and was reimbursed. I generally donât roll that way, but I sure didnât want to eat it for $265.00.

Most towns have repair shops that can fix that for around 35 bucks. If you can wait.

Wife and I put tar paper around the old house which is 4 ft off the ground, stakes hammered in the ground then nailed to btm of house, trying to stop North wind , filling up water bottles, bathtub, for water to flush toilets. Canceled Christmas with kids, they have to cross bridges which will be frozen. We will celebrate later.
