I like pretty much all kinds, especially herring and salmon. (Tuna's less of a favorite; I don't dislike it, just find it a little bland.) Aldi sometimes carries tins of herring in various sauces (curry pineapple, mango pepper, tomato)--what a treat.
Now, prepared fresh and not canned, you can't beat catfish and bluegill, in my opinion. I've never seen them tinned and don't know if you could. --But I digress. Oh I dunno, I remember some Awesome wild caught trout when I was a kid! Straight from the river to the pan while out camping. Oh, yes! Trout, grilled on foil over the coals, tomato soup heated, in the can, on the coals, trout-meat dropped into the soup. Fantastic!

I had pickled herring when I was in Scotland. That is why I was willing to try a tin of smoked herring. I love Scotland I have been there twice. We have friends in Loch Lomand and Perth. The friends from Loch Lomond drive us all over Scotland, showing us the sites. I have several friends in Scotland too. Laphroaig, Ardbeg, Lagavulin and others. I even own a square inch of land on Islay.

Gypo got to jump on a Cat 525B skidder this afternoon and skid a few logs Boss man's idea. Wow I can now say I have seen the worst skidder operator every only because it has mirrors in the cab so I can see behind me and my own self too! Do you think you could help toshtego move a truck? 😁 The tandem dual rear tires would have to be jacked up and placed on dollies. Then it could be towed, perhaps.

Why not just hot-wire the ignition?

Tonight is a can of Vigo giant calamari. Now this, I absolutely cannot recommend. The texture seems palatable and I've had fresh and dried squid varying ways that has been great. These little coins have a very overbearing pungent murkey fishy smell and flavor and while you are chewing them and breathing through your nose, there comes a nearly unbearable heavy smell of ammonia and I mean it about smells like straight fish and cat urine. I believe I've had a different brand of canned squid before and had the same experience but it's been a few years.
My connoisseur cat seems to like the jumbo squid just fine.

Why not just hot-wire the ignition? I do not know enough about the engine in this truck. Not sure what an old Ford 9000 tandem axle would be powered by. First guess is something built by Cummins. I do not want to screw anything up by fiddling. Perhaps someone with HD truck experience?

I like calamari and would like to keep it that way. I didn't even know it came in cans, but I made a note-to-self re: Vigo. I wonder if there's canned pulpo. Maybe I should just leave the mystery be.

I did pick up a couple new ones yesterday to try. Brunswick lemon and cracked pepper and Golden smoked. Bar Harbor natural smoked wild kippers and skinless boneless smoked sardine fillets. Could not find any smoked mackerel. Went to the big town/city yesterday picked up a project I needed the gunsmith to do minor things too then took Little Guy to Lego Store he built 6 people for his lego world layout thing. All I really wanted to do for Fathers Day. He gave me a card he made with Nana and some cookies

Egads!
Thanks for the heads up on this one, I love Calamari when it is done right, I have never had canned squid, and I am in no hurry to ever take a chance on it.

I never touch tinned fish. I'm not really a fan of fresh fish, so tinned fish is a no-go for me.

Comes in olive oil so you'd assume it's just ready to eat. Calamari is great fresh and cooked right but the cans have been wonky as hell.

We like buying and stuffing the squid like you do with stuffed manicotti. Using the squid instead of the pasta. Saw an Anthony Bordain show once & he was with a gal eating canned fish at some restaurant in Europe. That restaurateur built a heck of a business selling canned stuff & making everyone believe it was better than fresh. And at a premium. Wish I was that smart. God bless him.

Tried Bar Harbor smoked sardines yesterday pretty good but like the herring just a little more. Monday tried the Brunswick herring with lemon and black pepper that was a good one.

Today I found for the first time, Bumblebee smoked trout in cans. Was nearly $4 per tin but I had to buy them, for science! My favored Pampa herring in paprika sauce were somehow in stock so I had to remedy that situation and bought the entire sleeve of tins.
