I got some Rio Mare tuna from Amazon and it's the best tuna I have ever had. I eat a small tin with the big dipping Fritos and it makes a satisfying lunch. I had some canned Tuna from Spain last year that I got from Amazon, it was pretty awesome in a salad that we put together. Some of the international delicacies that heretofore had you shelling out big bucks at a specialty grocer can now be at your fingertips far more reasonably.

I never thought a thread about tinned fish could get such a response! I never thought a thread about snuff would be popular. Next up: snuffing fish!

Polar smoked sardines in olive oil on club crackers w/ Murray's honey goat cheese, Alexander Livingston's Favorite tomato fresh (a nearly extinct heirloom tomato from 1883) and dried San Marzano and Striped German tomato pieces.

Once again, I can't find any Pampa herring filets in paprika sauce. I'm down to just two cans. They've been like hoarding up Germain's or Gawith tins the past couple years.

Just now getting around to replying late here. The Pampa filets go for about $2 something per tin for 6 ounce tins. These on Amazon aren't the same or the same sauce and are going for $12-15 per tin which is well beyond absurd.

It's no offense but I'm just saying that's like paying $15 for one can of sardines you buy for $2.50 at Walmart. There are plenty of these scams on Amazon third party selling, walmart.com as well. It's called "drop shipping business" whereby I would go buy something for x price, and instantly sell and reship it from the seller for y markup price. Especially lucrative buy 10 cent items from Alibaba shipped from China and selling the stuff for $2-3 drop shipped. Make millions in months with the right sales. Which is what those herring filets are doing here. They are selling them for more than double MSRP.

I was trying to think of some disgusting way to use sardines in food, and thought of pork rinds. Turns out it's a thing. Anyone try it? Like, mixed together or sardine layered on a rind? I don't remember - but I did see quite a few recipes on the internet.

I love sardines so much that at one point, maybe 10-12 years ago, I researched them seriously and then went out seeking examples of the highly-rated ones. In the end I didn't hate any of them, so I figured I didn't need to try so hard. Lately I've been getting mine from Trader Joe's - good stuff at a reasonable price. No 'boutique' sardines for me.

You know, they sort the herring by quality, then put the worst ones in mustard sauce, and the next grade up go in hot sauce. The best ones end up in oil or spring water. Just saying, you might want to learn how to make paprika sauce.

I don’t care for Sardines, but my Costco flyer says that on the 28th, Season brand wild caught boneless/ skinless packed in olive oil will be $8.69 for 6/ 4.35oz tins. Limit 10

Since learning I have increasing Iron deficiency, aka Anemia, I looked into iron rich foods. Tined Mackerel rates the highest source in fish. Lower in Mercury than Tuna which is number two. I never tried it but now ordered a half case of King Oscar Norwegian Mackerel packed in olive oil with lemon. It is reported that oil packing preserves the Omega 3 fatty acids also needed. Good for those Mediterranean Pasta dishes with the tomatoes, olives and such. Something new for me.
