Tamales, Borracho Beans, roasted Jalapeño’s, fresh tortillas and Dulce De Leche. ALways good. Now that Nightshade family is eliminated to the extent possible, I so miss my plate of roasted jalapeños eaten at my favorite Mexican joint. I would split them, scrape out the seeds and veins, add salt and lime juice and enjoy as a Starter course while saving some to add to me Tacos or such. Jalapeños grown these days are milder than the ones of yore, alas!

There are always habañeros. Sadly, no chilies or peppers of any kind in my diet until long past this accursed inflamation of my skin suit.

Jalapeños grown these days are milder than the ones of yore, alas! I can actually eat jalapeños now. I thought it was just being old dulled my taste buds. I remember in Corpus Christi my Mexican friend was with me on a job. He was in between me and another guy. We were leaning against a shelf. The sandwiches we ordered came with jalapeños, like a normal deli would serve a pickle. The guy on the other side of Jack wanted my pepper and I gladly handed it over. He dropped it and it landed in the neck of Jack's Delaware Punch. I did think anything about it but when Jack took a sip he freaked out. He was madder than all get-out. He was always eating hotter stuff than he could stand. We'd go to his relatives and all the little kids were walking around sucking on peppers and he would strain to keep up. He died young, and I miss him.

Stuffed pork loin, mushrooms, garlic bread, and nice homemade Super Tuscan dry red wine. Had fun with a new recipe for a stuffed pork loin. Turned out better than I expected. Still moist and tender after 1 hr 15min in the oven at 325⁰F. It was butterflied, then hammered out flat to about 3/8" thick. Then coated with a mix of mozzarella, cheddar, and cream cheeses - spinach and fried crispy bacon. Rolled up, covered with my own pork rub, tied up and left in the fridge wrapped in "cling-wrap" for almost 24 hrs. Then baked tonight.

Jalapeños grown these days are milder than the ones of yore, alas! I remember one time at work - we planned a "food feast" on backshift. Among others things, people brought in hot peppers, some milder than others. We cut the peppers open on top and stuck a "spray cheese" nozzel into the peeper, filled it, breaded it and deep fried it. Unfortunately, they didn't keep the hot peppers separate from the milder ones, so it was a crap shoot what you were going to get. Someone from another department stopped by and we told him to help himself to the food. He got one of the hot peppers - really hot!. He bit into it, his eyes and nose started running, then he had a fairly severe nose bleed!

An 0230 hours meal of my own split pea soup and an open faced peanut butter and jelly sandwich with milk to wash it all down.
Tick tock. Tick tock. Time marches on and the insomniac waits patiently for the call to sleep. Sleep, sleep, sleep...
This is what happens when kicking the Ambien habit. Worth the inconvenience in the long run.

I never used Ambien, but I did take Lunesta. I found that when I got into a sleepless rut, a single Lunesta would put me back on track. Now I take Sleep-3 for a natural aid. Took one last night actually.

Took one last night actually. I have not had success with the natural sleep aids. The best was Seconal but that has been banned for a very long time. I am off all psychoactive medications except for Whiskey. They may have contributed to this dermatitis. From previous experience I am known to be allergic to Venlafaxine. Seems all of them are a problem for me. SO, I must face the night unarmed.

Carne Asada? That is beef steak with scallions in these parts as represented by the real Mexicans at my favorite Mexican joint in Taos. That looks like Carnitas- refried roast pork. Whatever it is, appears mighty tasty. Enjoy it!
