Busy day treasure hunting with my wife, a roll-up pouch of Friar's Bayou along for the hunt. Back home now, relaxing with a bowl of Haunted Bookshop in the Saturday cob and a cold beer on the back deck. Sis and BIL are coming by in about an hour hour or so. We'll be enjoying a beautiful summer evening on the back deck. Which begs the question. Did you find any treasure? Hoping we get some moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Hilllary… they are saying maybe a quarter inch of rain. 🙄

No, they were selling samples of all 6 blends in one bundle, for $5. One crumble flake per sample blend. I bought 3 samples, so I got the equivalent of a full tin of all 6 unreleased blends for $15. No tins, all in labeled bags. Good job Zach! We await a full report on all said blends in due time!

I be storing tobacco jars and related items in it. Now, I just need to make room for it.

The rest are in totes because I have no more wall space...if you see wall stretchers, let me know.

Good Sunday Morning! It's 59° with a clear sky and today is going to be a hot one here. When I went to the supermarket yesterday, I somehow lost the shopping list. I thought that I had bought everything, but no. Looks like I have to go back this afternoon and pick up a few more things that we need. Getting the smoking day going with a bowl of very well aged McC Blackwoods Flake in the Stanwell Silver Mount blasted billiard and there's a fresh travel mugga coffee on the workshop tobacco table. Have a good one, everybody!

Bow Legged Bear in sandblasted B42 Peterson coffee on the side looking for some motivation. Side note sister in law back in hospital for the third time this summer getting blood transfusion. Deere headed down to get the last load of stuff from her mom's house. My mother in law sold her place and hands over the keys Monday or Tuesday I forget. Hope everyone here has a good Sunday.

Good Morning Again! It's 72° with a mix of sun and clouds earlier out here on the deck. A very brief rain shower just passed by, but the umbrella did it's job and kept me dry. Currently smoking a bowl of Bayou Morning Flake in the Stanwell blasted billiard and there's a second travel mugga coffee on the side. Time to read my book.

Happy Sunday, all! Started the day with a couple bowls of Haunted Bookshop in the Sunday cob and coffee on the front porch. It's in the upper 70s, headed to 90, sunny with a light breeze here. Headed to a local Greek festival this afternoon.

10+ year old Dan Tobacco Roper's Roundels in my new Scott Thile bamboo shank blasted Liverpool. On both Friday and Saturday nights, I spent at least an hour each night hanging, chatting, and smoking with Scott. I’ve known him for years and he's a great guy and interesting to talk with. There’s many topics pick from since Scott is a master pipe maker, owns and runs Pipedia.org, and has been awarded both a Doctor of Pipes and a Platinum Record. (Scott's son Chris is a famous bluegrass musician and Scott had sat in and played stand up bass on a track on an album which ended up going platinum. So, the record company sent him a platinum record since he played on it. 😎) This pipe makes three Scott Thile pipes in my collection.

I’m smoking the inaugural bowl in my new, 1970’s New-Old-Stock, Tracy Mincer TheDoodler in the rare “American Scoop” shape. I bought the pipe directly from Tim West. After taking it up to my hotel room, I went to take the stem off and examine the pipe and the stem snapped off. The tenon crumbled in the shank. I took it back to Tim and asked him if there was anything we could do about it. He asked if I was going to be at the show for the weekend. I said I would be, so he took it home with him Friday and buffed it up from it’s original disheveled and boxed-for-50-years look, and he put a new delrin tenon in the original stem and polished it for me! What a really great and knowlegeable pipe guy. This is my first pipe that has a twin-bore stem. I’m smoking Sutliff Pipe Force Episode V, which releases next month. This is one of my favorites of thus far. Hot-pressed and ready rubbed Rustica is stoved, resulting in a smoothing of the bold leaf, but its familiar BBQ tang and floral spice are preserved, dynamically complementing the caramelized sweetness of the stoved Virginia. The Oriental Katerini takes to the cavendish process beautifully, offering herbal, woody undertones. The result is an exotic melange with a vitality that reimagines what a stoved mixture can be.
It’s pitch black, moist, tangy and smokey. Very savory, a flavor sense of deep umami and earth and just enough Rustica strength. Very easy and smooth to smoke and very slow burning.
