Puttering in the garden. Picked a couple shopping bags of lettuce for the kids, a kohlrabi, and a jalapeño that was growing hidden by some lettuce. I pinch off the flower buds on my peppers and tomatoes until the plants get bigger. This one snuck past me.

Picked a bag of lettuce for the neighbor. I also fed the tomatoes and eggplants with some stuff that's supposed to feed them for the fruit production phase.

Just curious— Are you blessed with frequent exposure to good in-person conversationalists? Nope.

Deep cleaning day for my feet and lower legs Skintegrity is my weapon of choice, insert silver antimicrobial dressing Maxsorb into the wound and cover with Cutimed mesh and let it air out. Apply Aveeno Eczema Therapy cream the only product out of the twenty + that actually works. Stare at the right foot and wonder if the index and middle toe will have a nail when healed and the scabs fall off with out me messing with them. Mentally prepare for second artery surgery in the morning call it a good day to all and take care.

We've come a long way and it's not all bad. If you were a woman or minority of any kind you wouldn't want to go back in time. Very well said.

I hear you Darin, not all discriminations are pointed to one race, I tried to borrow money after SAsia to farm ,buy equipment, Government Federal program said I wasn’t the right color. How about that, that was in the Sixties, Really they did me a favor, got on Exxon and made really good money in a job that I liked. Personal note, I picked cotton every year at my Moms father farm, school board let the farm kids off for 2 weeks , hot, fire ants, mosquitoes, pulled Indio by hand in my Grandfathers rice field, loaded rice sacks out the coulee weighing almost 200 lbs that were placed their overnight to start germination, loading them in the crop duster. What I’m trying to say it galls me that we hear about the one race all the time. Descrimination I felt it, kids laughing at my flour feed sack shirts, made me a stronger person. I agree with you Darin we need to be a kinder nation but I don’t think it will be, excuse an old man for ranting. I Garronte!

Carl Jung had an interesting take on some of what we are seeing today.
"Much of what plagues modern society, be it endemic levels of neurotic illnesses, mass-delusions, a widespread level of cowardice amongst the general population, an extreme susceptibility to propaganda, or a sheeplike obedience to corrupt authority figures, is the result of a dangerous disconnect between the conscious mind and the unconscious. Modern man has lost touch with his instincts, with the basic facts of human nature, and with a commonsense wisdom that is millions of years old. As it is dreams that help forge a connection to this ancient ground of our being, the more we pay attention to our dreams, the more we will find the inner strength and intuitive wisdom needed to thrive in a sick society."
I post this as Philosophy and Psychology. I make no political comment.

It's common for people to dismiss my longing for a country that I recognize and wish to survive to simply dismiss me with insinuations that I wish to bring back slavery and that woman should stay in the home, barefoot and pregnant. You don't know me, and you don't bother to try to understand. Just because some things were wrong, doesn’t mean that everything should be thrown out. Any decent person can see what's going wrong in this country. If you can't, you need to look in the mirror.

I believe you adhere to the values of family, country, God. So do I as do many here in The Patch. It seems to me we are holding together while craziness swirls around us. I am thankful to have the support and friendship of folks here.

To busy to deal with all that saving forests with paper pamphlet's in the land of illusion. Don't worry. People talk a good line but put forth little to no effort to actually do anything about it. In most cases, that's a good thing. When I was a teenager, my buddy had a saying when we got bored. "Let's do something, even if it wrong". He didn't mean to rob a bank or anything like that, but to do any activity even if it wasn't something we wanted to do.

Has anyone seen our new friend from Northern Ireland? He was sick last time he posted. Nope. Maybe his illness required him to take a break from the pipe and since, unlike Bob, he wasn't a long-established regular here, he just doesn't come around. Dunno.

Puttering in the garden today. Fed some flowering plants and pepper plants. The usual deadheading also done. Raspberries picked. I have to do some thinning in a couple garden boxes, hopefully will get some beets and turnips. I have too much lettuce. I've got to harvest, transplant or cull some to give my peppers more room. 63, more clouds than sun here.

I can't post my status in "what are you smoking"? because it's too blasted hot to smoke.
I got up early to walk dogs and mow the lawn. It was overcast and pleasant. The very second I stepped out with my loaded pipe to have a post mow smoke, the sun dialed up to full as if on a rheostat.
So I'm a little grumpy. Can you tell I'm grumpy? 😂

Was going to mow this morning before it got too hot, but the dew is still on the grass. Got 6/10 inch of rain yesterday and lots of high wind.

The garden puttering has evolved to a weeding project along the back of the yard. All small stuff, but a fair amount of it. Need to get mulch on top of the soil tomorrow.

Just heard that Kinky Friedman has died at age 79. He was quite popular in Texas. He even ran for governor and got a lot of votes

Probably fine with a lead singer named "Kinky Friedman". Probably less so if their lead singer was named "Butch Mengele".
It was pretty nice here, today -- not that I saw much of it. Still cooled off from that front that came through yesterday/last night.
