Not the best vocalist but certainly a great songwriter. I grew up listening to him as he began recording so I am used to that voice. I agree, a much better writer then singer! Case in point.....Neil Sedaka had a voice that would chill my bones....lol. But was one of the top song writers of our time. He wrote many songs for the Beatles and Neil Diamond ๐ Neil Sedaka! Have not thought about him for years. I was a fan back in the day, 1961.

Great topic. One that we were just debating over at work. Some of my favorites that haven't been mentioned: A 24 year old Joe Cocker doing the Beatles, A Little Help from my Friends. This is an excellent version...and brings me back to the days of watching 'The Wonder Years' when I was a child.

That's interesting and as I'm a Beatles fan, I got curious, Can you remember which ones..? I found this reference to Neil Sedaka and The Beatles on Wikipedia: "When describing the Beatles' effect on his career in the mid-1960s, Sedaka put it brusquely: "The Beatlesโnot good!"."
He didn't exactly sound enamored by the four lovable mop tops from Liverpool. This is one song that was written for John Lennon by Neil Sedaka beatleshistorian.com/?p=203Yes, but the song was written in 1975, five years after The Beatles stopped.
You wrote: "He wrote many songs for the Beatles...", so I just got curious which ones he wrote for them.

Also I know he is The Boss, but Iโve always liked Manderd Mannโs Version of Blinded by the Light better!

Just to say, Aretha should have had a "flags at half - staff" for the few days. When Willie goes, they will surely be lowered in Texas. These are National Treasures.

Wipe Out by The Surfaris Wipe Out by The Ventures I like both. I made a mix tape of driving music and I had the versions back to back. Which reminds me of another cover I like better than the original. "On the Road Again" by Tom and Jerry's Rockets.

As a former drummer I prefer the Ventures version due to a faster riff & rift. But I definitely enjoy the Surfaris Wipe Out as well๐๐

I never realized Old Roy Clark was this talented. "Malaguena" is a popular tune in these parts and this might just be the best cover I have heard.

In his day, Roy Clark was considered to be the best. Long before Hendrix and Stevie Ray. I think I have a couple of his guitar LPs.
