This morning they said it's moved a little more west (towards Panama city beach).
Headed to work today, will make my decisions around lunch time.

Thank you. It's not good anytime "catastrophic damage" is used. My smallish town is still in the direct path of the storm. When it reaches us it will be a cat 1 to cat 2. Its not something this town is prepared for. I grabbed some boxes from work and will be packing my valuables, pipes and tobacco included, and throwing it in my car. I'll be heading to a relative's house that lives in town. I should have left this morning to head to some family in Alabama but I had to make sure my family had a plan first. If everything stays the way they say, I dont expect my dads place to withstand it. We shall see. Weather Advisory (I'm in Thomas County)

Looking like Tallahassee is going to be whacked, and Thomas won't be far behind. Good luck guys.

Saint Medard, patron saint for protection against bad storms, we ask you to intercede for us during the storms of our lives as well as the storms in nature. Protect our families and our homes. We pray for assistance for the victims of hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters. Loving God, send in more helpers, and multiply resources and supplies for the aid of those in need. You calmed the storm on the Sea of Galilee; deliver us from the storms that are raging around us now. Saint Medard, pray for us!

Thank you all.
So on my way to pick up more ice and basic things it started raining. Went to put my window up and it exploded.
Now to find a @%#*$* window within the next hour...

Found one and just finished putting it in. Securing things around the house and then going to finish packing up and im leaving.
They're saying it's a good possibility that it will turn to a category 4

If it continues on it's predicted path I will just get clipped by the western edge. Nothing really bad expected for me..If it's path doesn't change that is.

The front above it is holding it on a pretty steady course. The pressure is dropping which means wind will increase.
I pray for the safety of all of us.
Car is packed with my valuables and irreplaceables. Waiting on laundry to finish and I'm headed to town (at the very least). Going to sit with 2 of my boys at their grandparents house. Ex father in law called and told me I better get my arse over there and out of my dads because it will most likely be gone. I dont feel like getting stuck on this red clay road.
Sorry for my rambling. For the first time in my life the weather has me nervous and I've been through some very sketchy weather.

I don't even know what to say to you folks in the path of the storm other than to let you know you are all in our prayers.

roadsdiverged, I have been through enough bad weather for both of us, and I get more nervous each time. It's normal. I hope that you and your family come through it OK.

The rain starts in about 30 minutes. Right now it is a cat 4 with 140 mph winds. They expect it to strengthen some more before it makes landfall. The weather channel says the panhandle of florida has never seen a storm of this magnitude. It should die down some before it reaches me, but, I'm not looking forward to this.
Charging my blood stream with coffee and nicotine.
I hope the rest of you in the path are prepared and safe.

Just as I feared, the latest reports clock it at 145 mph, a strong Cat 4. A Cat 5 is 157 mph. Prayers to those of you in its path and I certainly hope that you've evacuated by now. Been there.
