Found this in an article about “Remember back in the 70’s when you could?” And smoking on an airplane was one of them In late 1967 or early 1968, we lived in Washington D.C. Along with a friend of mine, flew from D.C. to San Francisco on United. My pal brought along a pack of Rameses II Egyptian cigarettes. These were ovals packed with some exotic tobaccos- Egyptian and Turkish. He carefully sliced a few of them open with a razor blade and sprinkled fine hashish and resealed the cigarette with a length of ZigZag paper. The cigarette's original label still appeared. So, we had a happy trip in the mostly empty back of the plane. No one, not a passenger or Stewardess said a word. I find it hard to believe that no one noticed a strange odor as those cigarettes, even without the hash, had a unique odor. With the Hash, it must have smelled like an Egyptian whorehouse in the back of the plane. Oh, the things kid do!!! BTW, that pal of mine was of Spanish origin on his mother's side and a few years later was working for Salvador Dali at his studio in Spain. How he got that job is another story.

Bing's birthday is May 3rd. Might I suggest we all become Bing for that day? It would be hilarious. To me anyway. What image of him would make the best avatar?

Ok, changed it my avatar. Ace Four was the statistical anomaly at the first poker game I hosted for a group of friends. All night long it seemed the board would have an ace and a four on it like better then 50% of the time. We now name that pair for the town I live in.

Try and find a picture of Bing beating his son Gary at a young age. It’s a sad story what went on in Bing’s personal life.

For some avatars a question that comes to mind is how vain, I mean old are the pictures taken of yourself?😁 I'm not sure it's necessarily vanity all the time. For some it might just be a memory of better times.

I have one like that, but it's only about 4 feet tall and has two drawers at the stern, can't fit a lot on the shelves, but it's adorable.

I have five young kids, so pictures of me alone are few and far between. This pic was the only one I could find without kids. Granted, it is almost a year old and blurry, so being the new guy here, I figure everyone would like to put a face to a name.
Someday I'll post a pic with a pipe.

For some it might just be a memory of better times. I thought I corrected myself and asked a simple question about age? Who said it is necessarily vanity all the time? Better times or better memory? Where are my shorts?😁

I already dropped the idea. Sorry I ever brought it up. All you guys with Bing pattern pipes need to come up with a new name for it apparently.

I know. The thought of Bing beating on his kids tainted the idea for me.

Mine is an old man from the far east, or near west I suppose. I find it represents how I feel when smoking a pipe. No, I don't feel like an old Asian man, but just very contemplative. I want to ask him something, but would more like to join him for a smoke.

Max Headroom is a hilariously bad movie, but I love it. The character is one of my favorite characters in all of fiction, so I'm using him until I get a good picture of myself.

for benefit of newbies: Have given permission more than a few times for any moderator(s) transfer this to the "avatar" box. From '01, taken by the luthier who made the instrument (5-string violin/viola). He created an "album" called "Flicker" & stuck it in there. I only dress "Western" when out on a band gig. About the same xcept two things, no glasses needed after got rid of my "Cadillacs" 6 yrs ago and 2. the "stash" longer, down to the chin and mostly gray. We don't have a working camera anymore & no way, if did, could transfer pics to anywhere. if can't see this, no can provide anything recent. www.facebook.com/ed.duncan.52Ed Duncan, Batavia, NY pipe/cigar since '62
