I just learned that this Gold Star is truly a Single Cylinder as the name implies. Sorry for the misdirection.

Wonder what ever happened to that classic BMW with side car that monbla had?

With an electric starter it should be fun. I had a BSA twin that dampens my enthusiasm for the new model. In the old days it could beat the Harley all around. I don't know if there is a market for antique style bikers other than shovel heads these days. Their market is dying off.

I am new to the forum. I have an 06 Springer Classic, an 07 Streetglide and last month I bought a 2021 BMW R18 Classic. I have been riding for 40 years, all on Harleys, until now. I was a Harley Mechanic for 7 years. The dealership went out of business, so I started working at a BMW/ Ducati and multi brand metric bike shop. I was thinking of getting a new Road King, when BMW offered incentives for the R18. They allowed me to put 200 miles on it to make it a demo bike.
Some nice bikes. I have worked for both BMW and Ducati dealers up here in New Hampshire. Both companies make some fine machines. My R90/6 was built the same year I was born. It sounds funny, but I enjoy touring with a bike the same age as me. I have rolled the odometer over once, however a friend who owned it before me said he was pretty sure it had rolled over once before. If true, it has over 200k miles on the clock.
Last Harley I was on was a friends '84 FXS Lowrider some 25 years ago. I've been tempted by the Road Glides, but pricing is just too high for what you get in performance. Maybe a good used one some day.

I definitely don't want to ride a bike the same age as me. I prefer brakes and my feed get tired of pushing.

Man, those cylinders stick out way more than my R69! Nice bike. All the 18s I've seen before have been the antique look.

At age 70 and living in a fairly empty place, I would love to have another motorcycle, A single cylinder thumper would suit me fine. If anyone wants to rehome, I am available! LOL!

That Royal Enfield Himalaya is still the one I'd want. The new BSA 650 thumper is nice, but I'd rather have a twin for a street bike.

My first motorcycle was a 1966 Cimatti 160 that my uncle gave me for my 16th birthday.
My second one was a 1970 Kawasaki Samarai 250 Scrambler. Probably the most fun out of the 20 odd bikes I've had.

Quality control is still pretty iffy. They seem to have improved in recent years. I have to also say they are getting better looking. I like the Triumph Bonneville line, which we also sell.

Love Thumpers. A 650 cc single must have some kind of torque! I get the desire for twin or more cylinders on a cruising bike. I just like to tap and thump along back roads at about 50 MPH.

Antique? 1.8 liters seems extreme to me. It appears BMW is trying to make something they are not.
