12 hrs left of this insanity, last night after I got home the furnace hiccuped. Scared the daylights out of me, and I lost 10 degrees of heat in 30 minutes. This morning is -17f air temp. By the time I go to bed tonight it'll be zero with calm air.. finally. This spring I'll be installing some line heaters on the cold water pipes in the bathroom theyre all frozen. 100 year old house and the bathroom was an addition, man its been rough. I know that feeling. I had that happen to me years ago in Winter. Boiler for the circulating hot water heat died. I could not any help as I was too far from town. I had to abandon that system and rely on a wood-stove. Are you familiar with Frostex Pipe Heating Cable? Far superior to the old heat tape. Check it out. I'll be digging into this fresh but I'll bear that in mind. I have it in my head to hard wire something in and hook it into a switch, so there are no plugs to monkey with. This is only the second time in 5 years its locked up and this time is worse than before.

Frostex is good stuff I have the belly pipes and holding tanks in the fifth wheel wrapped in it. Sorry to hear about peoples pipe freezing but I suppose there is not much you can do with temps that low. Sure going to be a lot of work for folks when it thaws out. I am the worlds worst plumber every time I play with water it takes many trips to the store.

Im lucky that the pipes that are frozen are schedule 40 galv steel threaded together. Buncha crazies in the 40s but at least I dont have to worry about a split pipe.

It is so cold I had to replace the batteries in my truck with two new Interstate MTP-65HDs, 855 CCA each. $336!! Makes a big difference. Winter here just kills batteries. Three years is the most I can get out of a pair rated for five years. Thinking of adding battery heaters.

Did you get it running? Yes. Spun faster than in a long time. Nothing like 1700 CCA! Of course, it was 33 degrees in late afternoon. Tomorrow morning in single digits, I may not be so fortunate.

I can definitely say the last few days have been cold.
-23 Tuesday and -27 Wednesday
Glad I had someplace warm to warm myself up with a couple bowls.
Sure wasn’t smoking out in the cold.

at least temporary, the burrrr has departed Western NY. +33 during my usual 2-miles power walks, company of no-band cigar. Not to exceed 36. If little one-stage snowblower can handle it, de-snow our narrow walkways. If clogs too quick, stop & let Ma Nature do her thing

This south Louisiana weather has done messed up my sinuses again. If we can believe the long range forecasts, our "winter" is over in SE Louisiana.

PS Before that temperatures from -5 to 25 throughout the day, were recorded for a number of days.

It’s 73 degrees Fahrenheit outside, feels much warmer. Inside it’s 78, had to turn on the A/C......with my peripheral neuropathy I’m burning from head to toe. February 5th and need the A/C.....that’s crazy!!! I much prefer cool weather 👍. Roll me around in the ice and snow like a dog, I’d give you my paw.
