A few people are always asking me how far has the shop project come and this is to let them and any one else who wishes to know how it's doing.
My shop is finally progressing, yesterday the electrician came by and installed all the outlets, lighting and ran power. I put flooring in the day before and today I managed to get an 6000 BTU AC unit install in the wall Oh! my aching back!  Carrying it up a 6 foot ladder wasn't one of the easiest things I've done.Tomorrow I'll be picking up all the insulation and putting it in, God willing and the water don't rise. Still need to make a ramp to the front door and put up 3/8" plywood for paneling inside after the insulation is hung. Then build work benches, shelving, etc., etc. But, I feel good about it all and it seems I just may have enough money to finish it all. Now if my back will just cooperate and let me do what I have to, we'll be all smiles. Sadly this doesn't mean I'll be up and running any sooner cause I have to wait for my new lathe to be delivered and I don't expect it for at least 4 more weeks, maybe a bit more. Although that'll certainly give me a needed rest.
Oh! And if anyone is just dyeing to lend me a hand your more then welcome sirs. It sure ease this old man's back and maybe even extend his life a day or two.  |

Good luck Ron, I’m sure it will be worth all the work and effort you put into rebuilding your shop. If I lived near I’d help you until you were up and running. Everyone here is looking forward to the very first pipe you design/create. Your first 40 pipes will sell super fast. 👍👍👍👍👍

I'd trade my labor for just a little bit of "shop time" to see an artisan at work.

Good to hear that it is all coming together, Ron.
I deliver quite a bit of high end woodworking equipment, some of the stuff from Germany, the import paperwork has the declared value... man, some of that stuff is pricey!
From what I have read, a lot of pipe makers use metal turning lathes?
I have never been told why though.
If you see an online pic of your lathe, can you post a picture?

We all know better than that...you always sell yourself short. But that is the mark of a true craftsman and you have the proof of that on your website...lot of people make pipes, but not alot of them make them with the precision and care that you do. So it will take some more time, but that is the most precious of the commodities here we are talking about...don't push yourself to exhaustion...you will make it...slow and deliberate, just like you make your pipes with the same care and perfection that you are known for.

Nice. Make sure you have everything ready so the young fit delivery guys can put it into position for you. Although I can lift stuff from waist level or higher, lifting that would do my back no good. Off course we all will be keen to see pics of your creations. No need to spend heaps on no fancy mobile. Mines an older model that cost $50 brand new & it takes good pics (If I could only figure out how to upload them to my laptop  ) |

What I was trying to say is, if ya'll wanted photo's that it would take awhile because I haven't a cellphone, just a much older digital camera. I know some of these guys can take a photo and post it on a seconds notice, I can't.
