That’s very sad. I was hoping to be able to get his dad’s Walther back to him. I’m pretty sure it formed a part of his learning to shoot. I guess I’ll have to revise. Did he have a son?

But if it's any consolation, he felt that he had too many guns. Of course one of the last posts I saw of his he was wishing for a 1903 Colt. I think it just happened so maybe there will be an obituary in a couple of days. I haven't seen any posts about wife or kids.

Really hard to process that Skeeter’s SON is dead. It’s really true that the older you get the more dead people you know.

I need to remember that most people my age are dead when I get frustrated that I can't do everything I want to do. If I get any details I'll post the info. I looked at his recent FB posts and it looks like he was reflecting on life a lot so maybe he knew it was coming. His DAD has been gone 35 years!

Skeeter’s gun writing is still my favorite of all time. Sorry to hear that Bart has passed.

George Burns lived to 100. When he attended events where he was expected to speak he often said “I’m glad to be here tonight. At my age I’m glad to be ANYWHERE!” It always got a big laugh.

Useless bling. Pimp stuff. Or fine art! 😁 Certainly that, and at a very high level. But they ain’t guns anymore.

Certainly that, and at a very high level. But they ain’t guns anymore. Most of us have more guns than we can shoot. Why not something beautiful to look at? And they will shoot.

Only a fool would shoot them. Probably the same people who would go visit the Titanic in a toy submarine. But the guns will shoot very well, I have no doubt.

If we start asking why, it will never end. I'm sure that if they had another chance they would probably do it again. I used to want to fly until I actually got in a couple of small planes.

The guns won’t shoot any better all dolled-up than they would naked. And cleaning such hyper-decorated objets d’art would be a nightmare and probably damaging. The people who would buy them probably aren’t into shooting anyway so they’re probably safe.

Nothing added except the tuned trigger.

Not always the case, I know of at least 6 people that have firearms made by heirloom Precision that carry them...and they are proficient.

I carry a Nighthawk Custom which is very nice *and 100% reliable, but my dream is a Burton/Heirloom Precision Government 1911 That is, without a a doubt, my way top and above all Grail Gun.

Yesterday evening, a New Mexico Conservation Officer, nee "Game Warden" came by in response to my call about a Mule Deer buck killed on the highway at my place. Poor little Forked Horn, still in velvet, was heading into or leaving my pasture when struck. I noticed this rookie officer was packing a S&W .357 magnum, six inch barrel. This is the first time I have seen a law officer carrying a wheel gun in a very long time. Perhaps the era of the autoloader dominance in law enforcement is coming to an end? At least for game officers needing reliable stopping power for large mammals on two and four feet?
