Brought home a bottle of Jim Beam "Repeal Batch" Bourbon. This is commemorates repeal of The Volstead Act and is similar to what their distillery first issued once back in business after a 13 year hiatus.
"As for how it tastes, Beam says that the bourbon is aged four years, similar to its traditional offering, but is non-chill filtered, leading to a fuller mouthfeel and enhanced flavors of char and oak."
While testing at 86 proof, which is little light for my taste, I thought to give it a try. On the whole, I like Beam products for their reasonable price and decent quality. At $14.99 I saw little downside. Their "Devil's Cut" is a favorite of mine.
Jim Beam is pretty hard to beat, IMHO.

A pot of Yorkshire Gold Tea in my new Cobalt Blue Betty pot from Adderly Ceramics, one of the last makers in the UK. Just the thing on a 10 degree (F) morning. While the Y Gold is nice, I prefer their regular Red Label tea. Open to any suggestions for a sturdy tea in the morning.

Proper Twelve Irish Whisky on the rocks, smooth and very pleasant, easy to drink whisky Irish, namely Bushmills, was the first whisky I drank. Me and a bud split a 1/5 when we graduated from High School. Sat in a park and polished it off. My pal was an Irish kid and nothing else would do. Staggered home drunkenly. Was drunk the next day when I woke up. No puking. That Irish sits lightly on the stomach. Good stuff! I might have to pick it up again. I believe there is a wee dram of Paddy's in the back of my liquor cabinet.

Paddy's sells for under $20. Bushmills and Jameson are usually about $10 more. Tullamore is not seen here. Power's is another low cost alternative but I have never liked the taste. If I want a treat,it is RedBreast. I drank that in Dublin back in '72 and enjoyed is since.

Just come back from a week away with two mates fly fishing and drinking lots. We had an assortment of drinks to hand, Spey River, Shackleton, Proper Twelve, Bushmills, Tullamore Dew and Chivas Regal. Oh and for beer we had Guiness Draught and Coronas. I had plenty of each making sure I didn't miss out on anything. The fishing was good to

This chest cold and stuffed up head since last weekend is getting me down.
So, a Toddy is indicated:
1/4 Teaspoon ground ginger 1/4 teaspoon turbinado sugar 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon. 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper, Juice of one half lemon well squeezed. 4 ounces hot water 2 ounces Wild Turkey 101
Stir, imbibe.
This really heats me up and gets the snot flowing from all orifices.
Feel much better!
