Finally got a chance to sample some single malt scotch (Macallan) at my brothers' place....while I can't drink any alcohol because of the meds I am on, I took the chance for a sip...WOW, that is some high octane stuff....and quite delicious!

If you are only going to have one sip of Single Malt to learn what it is like, you picked the correct bottle.

Actually, it was the only scotch my brother had in his bar...it was fabulous!!...managed to snag a rare not for export bottle of Grand Marnier Cordon Jaune #307011...had some several years ago when he sent us a bottle...this is the last bottle of this fine liqueur....I remember it being really special...taste is spectacular.

I decided to try a new bourbon last night and bought Four Roses (regular). Definitely not for me. I can barely drink it. I’ll have to use it as a mixer only. Now that I reread this thread, I see most of you were referring to their Single Barrel. Whoops.

What I can drink while smoking, or immediately after, is very different from what i can drink at other times. Finicky tongue.

Last night it was Old Forester 100 proof. At < 20$, it's one of the best bang for the bucks available imho Never seen Old Forester 100 proof, just their 86, which is quite good. The OF 86 is drinkable but not in the same league as the 100 proof(signature) which in my humble opinion is the best value escaping the borders of Kentucky. For some reason that slightly higher proof juice just explodes with classic bourbon flavors

The FR entry level juice is good but not what I would call a sipper. The Small Batch is much better and the Single Barrel, especially some of the private store picks,is absolutely phenominal. They make several mashbills, eight if I recall correctly, four in high rye/low corn and low rye/high corn.My favorite is the old standby OBSV mashbill.Found a link that helps decipher this I'll post below.Good luck on your FR journey fourrosesbourbon.com/our-recipes/

It used to be a brand that was exported to Japan.

2 parts hot water, 1 part soy milk, natural (non-Dutched) cocoa powder with a touch of maple syrup. Soy milk foams up nicely by hand with a small whisk.

Having a cup of black coffee this morning. Last night, Shweetie was feeling pretty poorly from the colds going around. Made her a big cup of whisky toddy, which for us is hot water mixed with Buffalo Trace Kentucky Bourbon, honey and lemon juice. It looked so good, I had some myself. We both slept better, and shes definitely feeling better this morning.

Third cup of coffee this morning. 5 scoops of dark roast grounds in a 3-cup stove top percolator, bring to boil and percolate for 4 minutes, man up and pore it down.
I believe anything you do in life, you gotta do it like you mean it.
I just cant figure out for the life of me why my bp stays up at stratospheric levels.

Ed retired from an USAF career around 1968 and worked with me as a dispatcher for the security department of a bank you know well. That was in the early 1970s Ed taught me many things, Bourbon, the game of Pool, Jazz. You see, he was an African American who took a liking to a youngblood white guy- me. IW Harper is a label I never see anymore but would like to.

Diet Mr Pipp rarely on sale and even more rare to be in stock. I think you mean Mr. Pibb, which was originally meant to compete with Dr. Pepper. I used to love the stuff.

Enjoying a wonderful g&g. Gin and Ginger. Hendricks Gin and Vernors Ginger Ale. Life is real good. As surely as the World turns, Spring will be upon us. With the coming of the new season an old man's fancy turns from the amber or brown spirits of whiskey filling his glass and looks towrds the clear enjoyment of a proper Gin. Soon, my friend, soon. I shall join in a toast.
