Last time on the scale loaded was 23000 pounds so I am having someone move it this time. Cheaper than a transmission or my nerve tonic from driving in heavy city traffic. The worst part about towing a big RV is traffic and being able to stop that SOB. I have towed smaller trailers all over like they were not behind me but when I tow the fifth wheel I always know it is behind me. Go west young man or like Jim Morrison says the West is the Best.

You will likely feel much better once that is over with tomorrow.
The next morning I took Lyft back to the truck and decided to look in the trailer before pulling onto company property....when I had put the straps on the barrels they were so tight you could play a tune on them. When I opened the doors, the straps were sagging down laying on the floor, still latched into the e-track. nothing shifted fortunately, because the shipper banded for drums to each pallet....it could have been a big problem, and had I gotten inspected by the DOT, it would have resulted in a ticket and fine. I am breaking out the company credit card and this is the only way I am rolling in the future...e-track loading bars. I always feel redundancy is a good policy. When I was trucking I used load bars, straps and the occasional air bag to keep my freight from shifting. I used them all at the same time cause I had to clean up close to 75 cases of Disani water when my load lock was not tight enough. I was pretty anal retentive after that, I had load bars that would go between pallets of stuff, ones that would go on the sides of product in the gap from the trailer wall.. I had wood blocks for putting some load bars floor to ceiling..yeah, I hated shifting freight.

I picked up a load of LTL at a paint company that is a household name...they told me that their policy was that I sign for the sealed trailer, sight unseen...I agreed to it and signed "shipper load".
Got back to break out the load to be shipped to outposts that they did not want to send their drivers to, and a full trailer of 5 gallon buckets were all horizontal,. No bracing, no banding, el cheapon on the shrink wrap....no busted containers, but a nut buster day for their employees.
After that you could have rolled a trailer and it wouldn't have shifted.
I have had Dasani-like experiences though, it makes for a long day.

Towing involves using the right truck. You are so right that the issue is not "The Go", it is "The WHOA". Heavy trailer loads can be difficult even with trailer brakes.

+ 10 degrees (F) this morning. Plenty new snow overnight, another six inches.
Snow, it is what is for Winter. Still, the northern Midwest and the Great Lakes area get far more.Of course, they have the equipment to clear it. Here, it is not regular enough to invest in much so it is shovel time!

today has been crazy. hubby stayed home sick. i went over to Mom's to get her bank deposit and grocery list but she wasn't there, I couldn't the deposit, but her grocery list and debit card was sitting out, so hubby and I went to walmart. he decided he wanted veggie beef soup, so had to get all the fixings, and then he was hungry so we had to eat at Subway (I'm beginning to feel like I'm in that children's book If You Give a Mouse a Cookie....) We get home, unload the car and give Mom her groceries. I go home and cut up the meat and get it started simmering in the skillet. Halfway through that my son comes over to tell me that Mom needs me to pick up her prescriptions, and I'm like, why wasn't that on the list??? Sigh. So once the meat is done and in the crockpot I go over and get her card again and head up to Walmart. I figured since I was going back I would pay my water bill. well, there was a line. Got my bill paid, picked up an envelope and went to the pharmacy, it was closed for lunch. Waited about 10 minutes and then there was a line at the window. Got her meds, put gas in the car and then came home. Gave her the bag and she says that isn't all of it. I tell her sort it out and I will go back tomorrow. Ugh. Yikes.... What did you do after lunch? 😉 LOL, crash!

Divorce time, wife bought 2 bookcases to put together at El Cheapo place she goes to. I hate that 💩. Got one put together, blood pressure probably would break the machine. Only good thing I can say about it it had all the hardware, sent her to Lowe’s for renforceing slats to be screwed across the back to stabilize it. Chilly, 50 degs with NW wind 10 to 15, overcast, rained almost all night.

My son puts things together for me..Then I have to pick up my tools and put them where they belong. I wish I could say that's my case, but sadly I am a habitual leave it where I last used it person. This wouldn't be too bad in truth, but my son has a really bad habit of picking random things up, fiddling without even realizing it as he moves to somewhere else in the house, discovering he has something new in his hand and setting it down wherever that discovery is made..

Had Cherokee Chief, working underneath with my 4 year old son, afterwards when I stopped I had a rolling sound, bumfuzzled for about 6 months. Finally underneath to change oil I saw cutouts in frame, got my mechanics magnet on a wand, put it in hole and viola pulled 3 sockets out, Son had probably put them in there when he was helping, NO MORE ROLLING SOUND!!

It's been bitter here the last few days. Did a graveside funeral this afternoon and I almost froze to death myself. Umbrellas were blowing inside out etc too. Thankfully it was only for 5 minutes.
I'm really missing my pipes too. I know I could go into the shed, but it's a mess and so freakin cold that it puts me off. I'll wait until better weather but I sure can't wait until the sun comes out a little stronger.

Fortunately, I always have my truck, and we live far enough out that a trip in to just about anywhere is far enough to be worthwhile lighting up. That, and the temp has been in the low 40's last few days.

The bum next door moved out a gross SOB who did not empty a big trash can the whole time he was here six weeks. He left his trash can and a bbq and sheets of plywood in my space. So I moved all that stuff up to the street. I am leaving in a few days because of people like him. My good friend Rick down the way moved out on the 15th also tired of the vermin passing through the park. The other Sean two spots down pulls out on Saturday as soon as he gets of work and moving to another park. The old owner Gene moved out the last of his stuff this morning as work on his house to accommodate his wheel chair is finally done. So for once it is not just crazy me. Strange how a place can go down so fast. I am really going to miss the suicides, ambulances, sheriffs dept and other exciting things that have been going on around here. But hey I am not a big fan of packing heat to go out back to have a smoke on the bulkhead. OK rant over.

There was a reason women would wrap themselves up in a long wool shawl. that is what can withstand the wind and rain.

It's a little sad that I often get more stressed at home than being at work. But, life with an adult disabled child can be interesting some days.
So, I just settled outside with the fogs and a clay pipe half full of Black Frigate. It was calming.

"Many are cold, and a few are frozen" ~ Charlie 22:14 That sounds like my sister's funeral...we went to the funeral home but we were able to skip the graveside ceremony, and the 40 mile round trip on icy roads...the winds were blowing across the Kansas plain like no tomorrow.....the pastor performed the graveside ceremony and said it was his coldest funeral.

Black Frigate, one of my favorites. I had a clay pipe, a Dutch made Delft pipe, back around 1969. Not sure what happened to it.

Snowing like Winter. Went out to bring in some wood and there it was, falling with a purpose. One more cat came in the house.

Good Morning!
On this day in 1776, The Continental Congress declared that no apprentice may join the Continental Army without the consent of his Mistress. Reminds of when I was young.
On the home front, +10 degrees (F) with a couple of inches new snow.
