Getting a few little drops from whatever the heck they named this tropical depression beta or beto something like that. So Ron will have the first motorcycle in Linden wait till they see him skateboard. There's lots of Harleys in Linden. How's a Harley like a Hoover? They both have a dirtbag on the back! 😜😈👺. Just kidding. There is also a motorcycle shop that restores old Honda 70s and Vespas, etc. It's called Linden Re-Cycle. It's raining pretty hard and the wind is gusting here in Humble. Wish I was home.

Wife declared today "Sunday Fun Day". She took me to an apple orchard / business. We bought apple donuts, apple fritters, apple pie, apple sauce, apple butter, mulling spice for apple cider - and blackberry preserves. Then she took me to a "local" vineyard. The main vineyard is actually in southern Illinois about 160 miles south. This is an "outlet" or something. Enjoyed a bottle of wine while listening to Blues bands. Great day.

Are you kidding? If they still had a police bike from 1936, they could sell it for enough to cover the county budget for a year! The cops I've seen were all driving new Explorers. There is a major Interstate Highway that goes right through the middle of town. They only set up speed traps once or twice a week though. 😉

That's the same year they built the fire dept by taking labor and materials off the property taxes or was that 1939. Hell I would have to watch the video again before that the court house burned down and all they had was a bucket brigade with one bucket.

I see a little town with one stop light in the center where the county seat is. Light poles along the sidewalks. I guess I am stuck in 1947.

No way it is a modern metropolis with a Sonic and Dairy Queen. As well as unlimited shopping at Dollar General.

Tele shows Galveston be lambasted with rain, flooding and high waves that have taken off the end of pier. Storm should move into south Houston over night and wash all trash in the ditches in to the gulf. Galveston Bay where you can catch a red fish and used couch all in one outing.

There are about ten now with more to come. Traffic has become much busier owing to the influx of people from Texas, Oklahoma, California.

Heck if I know just a random photo of old time gas lights as I was not sure if AC power had reached Linden yet. Pardon my warped sense of humor.

I am certain Linden is electrified.
They have a water wheel generator with a mill pond. Lights are brighter when it rains, dimmer when it is dry.

Warm and sunny here in central north Florida...seems that we have been exempted from the tropical storms...at this point. Well wishes for all those in the Galveston area where rain is getting heavier by the hour.

Founded by Jim Bowie on his way to the Alamo. It's fired by either natural gas or coal, both locally sourced. I suppose in a pinch it would burn yankees and Kalifornicators too.😜🤠

Rain off and on as well as sometimes heavy. I did the proper thing I took a long nap. I should watch the news to see how folks in Galveston faired but that would mean watching network news, deplorable at best.

I went shooting at an outdoor range Saturday - 100 yards.
When I shot my 308 rifle, I first fired at a metal "gong" to prove my rifle was sighted in. (The owner didn't want any wild shots going over the dirt berm.)
I placed the crosshairs on the center of the gong, pulled the trigger and hit the center of the gong - which is odd because the rifle is sighted in at 200 yards. At 100 yards the bullet should have hit a few inches high.
So I placed the crosshairs on the first bullet mark on the gong and fired again - and hit the first bullet mark.
So I moved over to my paper targets and proceeded to shoot holes through the bullseye or near it - "on the crosshairs".
These rounds were a new reload using a 150gr Hornady SST bullet and a different powder and different overall length compared to my regular 308 reload. First time I fired them.
After 20 rounds, I switched to my regular reload using a 150gr Hornady BTSP bullet - and it hit a few inches high like I would expect at 100 yards. I had to place the first mildot above the crosshairs on the bullseye to hit it - which is normal at 100 yards.
So how strange is that?
I accidently created what you might call a "100 yard load" for a rifle sighted in at 200 yards!
I couldn't have done that if I tried.
I'll keep that load in my reloading book, but need to work it up so that it behaves like my "regular" load as much as possible.
