Watched “Casablanca” on the flight today. Damn, Lauren Bacall was hot, I can only dream that her persona on film matched her in life.
Great movie.
I wish I was as quick as Rick on comeback lines.

I am relocating a truck from Denver for Phoenix operations, so it is an easy assignment. I could have taken a few different routes to Phoenix, I decided to go down the I-70, a beautiful drive through all the Aspen trees in the fall foliage, Vail, Breckinridge, Glenwood Springs, etc... Glad that I do not have hazardous stuff on board, if I did I could not go through the Eisenhower tunnel and have to take Loveland pass.

55 degrees probably the first time the weatherman has been right all year. Probably be best to remove the fake fireplace and give it good cleaning and lube the bearings on the fan motor. Also time to top off the propane tanks an get the neighbors filled as well she does not have a lot of money to do so.

Not sure but I think it a sliding scale that could fill her tank for very little to no money out of her pocket!

I figured steel wheels for you, John! 😝 As you know, that is how farm tractors started out. I understand they were tough to control in the curves while on the track.

My Grandfather had an Allis Chalmers with steel wheels and spikes. His farm consisted of 2 patches, you had to get on the road to go to second patch. They finally blacktopped the gravel road, Grandpaw had to go to second patch to irrragate his rice, he tore up part of that road pretty bad. My father had to intervene after his Dad agrued ive used that road all the time. The solution was parish helped with the cost of a bridge over the coulee.

I did a bunch of chainsaw work earlier. All quiet for the moment, then I have both a rider and a horse coming around 3:00, both need work. Ill probably keep the horse for a week for a tune-up.

Tioga pass is the back door to Yosemite floor 53 miles with a drop off on one side 9,9745ft at gate above the tree line. Can be very daunting pulling a travel trailer. 12 mile pull from Lee Vining to the back door.I don't mind pulling up but no way would I pull down it with looky loos in front of me.

62° here in central north Florida...a pleasant change in the temperature and I'm ready to hit the porch for a day of pipe smoking and reading.

Beautiful day today. Im trying to take some of the burden of keeping house off of Shweetie, since she just got her first full-time job in our 30 years of marriage.
Im not doing very good, Im afraid.
I promised her I would go get groceries this morning. I drove the 35 miles to the store, and then realized in the parking lot that I had brought no wallet and no money.
35 miles back home. Maybe Ill go back in after lunch. Maybe Ill wait till she gets off work, and take her in. Take her to dinner while we're in to make it all seem like part of the plan?

Nice day in NE Texas. The dishwasher repairman called and said he was on his way at 6:30 am. The installer didn't knock out the plug on the garbage disposal where the dishwasher discharges. Typical of what we're finding around here. Used the string trimmer around the pond and driveway.

Typical of what we're finding around here. Used the string trimmer around the pond and driveway. The exact same thing happened to my son a few years ago when he bought a house. Dishwasher wouldn't drain, if I remember right. Checked the screen in the drain area. Finally pulled the drain hose off and found that plug had never been removed.

It's been a busy week, with more to come.
Finally got all the financial records for my mom's estate assembled and turned in to the lawyer. So, maybe only another month or 6 weeks before it's all finally closed out and the inheritance paid out.
And - tomorrow my wife gets both knees replaced. Doctor tried to get her to do one at a time, but she wants both at once. A couple days in the hospital and then she'll be home with me as her "care giver". Wish us luck!

Monty, prayers are with you and your wife...may I offer a suggestion...make sure she has plenty of pain meds. and don't let them try getting away with vicoden or any lesser pain meds. She will need something that works!! Doing two knees at one time is gonna be tough.

You will be getting tired.

Mine went thru carpel tunnel surgery a few years ago, not even in the same ball park but she did the same thing. both hands at once please. I have long believed that most women can handle far more pain than any man I've ever known.

Another cool morning sipping coffee nice and toasty warm inside the shack. Years ago my friend Steve had both knees done at the same time. Before the operation he had been in great pain so much so that he was walking the same afternoon they replaced them and got in trouble for it. Long term pain is like being a frog in boiling water you don't know how bad it is till it suddenly goes away. I hope Monty's wife is in less pain as she heals up so she can enjoy life to the fullest.

On my birthday yesterday it was bucketing out of the heavens so there was no birthday pipe for me. That was OK, because my Neerup pipe that I ordered hadn't arrived. Today it's a little chilly (started off around 3 degrees this morning) but the sun is out and I'm hoping that my Neerup pipe will arrive for me to try out later on this afternoon.

My older friend back some time ago loved to ride his bike, knee pain stopped him, he decided to do both knees at the same time. Best thing I ever done he told me.
