I emailed the boss in Idaho today with my intent to resign email. The money is good, benefits and fringe benefits excellent, but I am done with going to California, working 14 hours each day, having a hard time trying to find a hotel that has truck parking. Recently a vagrant got past security and pulled a fire alarm at 3 AM which took 4 hours to get a technician to disable it. Nothing in California gets thrown away due to Covid scares, it is all considered hazardous waste if someone returns a product to stores that stupidly accept all returns. 9 months ago we were told that we would double business over the next two years, 6 months ago the higher ups put a hiring freeze on when we were all working 60+ hours in the middle of Covid maggedon. On Thursday, I ran out of containers in Carlsbad Ca. and called the dispatcher: "I guess you will have to go to Fontana and stay another day to service the last two accounts." Carlsbad to Fontana in rush hour and returning in the LA basin is no picnic.I told him "Like hell I will, I understand that you are in a pressure pot, with upper management and customers needing service, but this cat is spent." I had 11 cubic yard boxes, 20 drums and about 30 cartons ranging from 55 to 10 gallon boxes...all in a 27' van.I drove back to Phoenix...and still had a 12 hour day just unloading the stuff onto a 10 day trailer...I will spare the details, but there is a lot of physical and mental work involved just in that. Hauling hazardous waste is the most heavily regulated form of transportation and the feds take no prisoners on it. Had I went to Fontana, I would have ran over the 70 hour limit and my 36 hour reset for weekend would have been spent in Yuma, I would have gotten back in time to load up and go again. The Hilton Garden Inn in Yuma is pretty nice, has a great bar, great restaurant and a nice pool, but I had a pipe club meeting to attend and missed my honey. I say all this to say that my boss in Idaho is a great guy, and I really hate leaving him in a lurch. We lost three guys (Techs) due to covid in Fontana, a father and son died, and the other son is unable to return because of breathing issues. But, had the company not instituted the hiring freeze, it would have mitigated a lot of nonsense, time for me to move on. Having a pension check that rolls in allows one to exercise options, (and no debt) that otherwise would not be available. Brother, I'm sorry to hear that. It started off looking like it was too good to be true, but it looks like it kinda was. But hey, perhaps this was the push you needed to move on and think outside the box with respect to what you want to do next. I have faith that the next part of your journey will be just right for you! Keep on truckin' Charlie.

Charlie, do what's right for you and your family. This company sounds like they were really using you to up their profit margin.

Oops forgot the whipped cream for the pumpkin pie. Now I have been told to make my blueberry jam. Sounds weird, but anything for my girls today!

It seems that the "working from home temporarily" has turned into "working from home until you retire". The firm decided that they didn't need as much office space as they had, so when the lease expired they got a new place with less space. I guess that I will be converting that new cargo trailer into a combination office and radio shack...LOL.
As long as I'm out from under my spouse's feet, that's all that matters.

I emailed the boss in Idaho today with my intent to resign email. Congratulations and my Best Wishes! You were nice to give them notice, I might have just walked away. After some frustrating weeks away this spring I pulled the plug and will collect my pension starting November 1st. I might get some sort of part time job but hopefully my days of travel and motels are over.

I built a small porch and step in front of the door to the barn and stained the ramp to the barn. I used Cabots stain. I hope that it holds up.

Today is water day. Drained and flushed water heater, replaced all the water filters five total, cleaned all screens and restrictors on the faucets. A ounce of prevention is worth a pound of care or in this case repair.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do, Charlie. It's been a long road you have been on...time to maybe settle down and just enjoy life. Sitting on the porch with the "baby" in my lap...she is a joy to our life.

My wife had both knees replaced 12 days ago. She's doing pretty good. Tylenol only now. Walks a little without her walker.
I must be doing pretty good as her care giver because she told me I can now smoke once a day in the living room.

Voted early in case I die before Nov and they change my party to vote for the evil commie one. If you live in Chicago where the dead have been voting for years. The state of Life is not a requirement for eligibility to vote.

C'mon Dewayne, Man UP! I hear you though. When my son was young, we would rough house..I could pin his scrawny butt to the mat in no time. He went into the Marine Corps, went through boot camp and came out with the neck of a horse. Then he went to advanced combat training, came home and wanted us to spar. I raced to scripture for an answer. "Son...it is time to put away childish things!" I selectively misapplied scripture as I quoted the bolded part, but it saved me from mayhem. Funny story for you. When I joined the navy my younger sibling was a strapping young man about my size. Fast forward two years after my tour on the east coast. It's the Christmas holiday and he joined dad to pick me up at the airport in Portland. I step off the plane and see my dad, and this freaking 6'4 gorilla waiting. I walk up all smiles and my LITTLE brother stands over me looking down at my 5'4 1/2 150 pound frame smiling. He says "So do remember all those times..." True to the young dumb sailor I was I looked up at him with no fear and said "Do you remember that baseball bat I told you about?" Good thing we love each other or I might have gotten hurt LOL!!

Got my hair cut today at Curtis barber shop on E. Houston Street in Linden. Old barber and I start talking about the town and he said that Don Henley owns almost all of the buildings on the town square. He remembered cutting his hair when he was in high school. When he bought the building the barber shop's in he replaced the roof and did some other fixing up. He told Curtis to just keep sending the same as he had been paying to the new address. He said, "The town square has to have a barber shop". He's pretty highly regarded around here. Best haircut I've had in years too. It was $9. I thought I had a 20 but I had 2 hundreds and a 7 ones. The next guy in the chair handed him a 20 and said he would cover both of us. I gave him the seven and told him that I would give him the other two next time I saw him. It probably won't be long in this little town. Next I stopped by the lumber yard to see about getting some 2x8x16 boards delivered. No charge. Have I mentioned how much I love it here? 😍😍❤️❤️❤️💕💕😎🤠

Schools and businesses to close again here in Northern Ireland. It'll be a rough winter.

My voting place is an old school in the country my Dad attended when there was only 11 grades. We rarely wait to vote, maybe now with the Corona it will be slower. Love to hear Ron about your move, not too many places like that anymore. My wife is a Beautician so she’s been cutting my pin head for over 50 years, not much to cut anymore, had to put on a cap this morning the old naggon was cold. We have a local lumber yard, Wife is a German gal who works like a man, used to go to Lowe’s or stines for small jobs she did around the house. When I told her to go to the local lumber yard that they would load it and the price was comparable and better lumber she tried it and loves the place. I believe in giving the local merchants my business, my hardware mans father was a trade school teacher who smoked the pipe. I finished all the required subjects in high school a tpyear early, was in a small group that did that so they let us go to trade school for a year. Back to my hardware man, bought 2 Zero turns from him, end of season he gets my mower brings it to his shop services it and brings it back for 50$ travel fee. Big box store doesn’t do that. I call my young friend who took over his fathers butcher shop and order good ground meat , and pork sausages, cracklings , boudin, all the good stuff. You can have those big cities,

Everything is open here. People who have jobs are working 80 hour weeks. There are about a dozen churches and one grocery store. It's 15 miles to a Wallmart which is about where you want one. Probably around 1600 people, but it's hard to tell. Desirable homes here sell pretty quickly, but mostly to retired people. Homes are running about $55/square foot. We paid $39/square foot for ours, but it does have a lot of issues. But they're small issues to us.

Thought this was funny. Had to go look at damaged 2020 Yamaha V-Star 250 today. Not too bad it is repairable which is always a good thing. Then I read the facts of loss and other statements. Rider was trying to get away from a dog that was chasing him and went head on into a telephone pole. The rider is ok, but according to the witness after the impact the roder was unconscious. Then stated that the dog came and peed on the rider. 😀
