Driving back home to Washington today. We take the scenic route north up Idaho 95, through Hell's Canyon and across the Nez Perce reservation. Its slower, but a much nicer drive. Probably take us about 7 hours. I dont drive fast. Have you been to Crater Lake? I've wanted to go there since I was about 8 years old.

I'll be voting in person on election day. I don't trust mail in ballots. And too often "in person" early ballots get packed away, not counted on election day, and found months later.
I'm in Illinois, and I know voting fraud is a real thing.

If you vote by mail check to make sure it was counted these are strange days regardless of your party. At least in my county in AZ they have a ballot tracker for mail in voters. I knew when it was mailed to me, I got it marked it mailed it back and just checked this morning. They've received my ballot. pretty nice compared to earlier years. (I don't know how long weve had that here, but in other places I lived I never knew of a way to do such)

Going to add a new member to the family tomorrow. It's been a couple of years since our 16 year old Jack Russel passed away. This girl will never get too big. Maybe 10 or 11 lbs at most. It's a "Teddy Bear" dog. A mix between a Shih Tzu and a Bichon Frise, I think. w

Just had a happening at my house..My wife was going to fry some potatoes. She put a pan with oil in it on the stove..For some reason she walked away from it.It filled the house full of smoke. The home security alarm went off. Then the fire truck showed up..I told them what happened and that there was no fire. Then they left,The smoke is gone now and all is OK..I don't know what she was thinking. She knows not to do that.

That reminds me of some of my best days ever. Is that lever a 45/70? There are 3 different lever .45-70's in those pictures. A long 1886 on shooting sticks, a short 1886 saddle carbine shot freehand and a Marlin 1895G scout set-up in the long range shot

Spent the day shooting with my boys and smoking back-to-back MUWAT KFC "Just a Friend" cigars. A fine looking day, indeed! I pity the day some fool thinks that easy pickins are at your home. Mas Ayoob~ "Failed victim selection 101"

Needed a new short water hose the last one I got was a POS. Walley World had two hoses and was putting out Christmas stuff. Got a shark bite repair end. Momma got me a new pair of Merrell's with the promise I would throw the old ones away. The kid at the check out made me take them off so he could check the tag so I said fine I am put together with more screws than a swing set go find me a chair. Nothing like being old and treated like a thief and if I was going to steal shoes I damn sure would have picked a cheaper priced box than the one I brought to the register. Anywho I like them and wore them the rest of the day. Threw away my chinese made Buck after breaking the tips off two blades so I need to order a Case stockman. I got the Case Seahorse Whittler last year but I cant bare to mess it up. Also have a nice Boker congress but it is not a stockman. I have plenty of blades but a man needs a stockman knife probably has something to do with saving up for a Old Timer in the forth grade and the other lads had the same stockman as well. Went shoe shopping for Momma as well she needs a new pair of Brooks sneakers and has sworn off Nike and the like. Young man has some new stock coming in next weekend so we will go back. The hard working independent shoe salesman needs the money and we would rather spend it there than some big box place. Modern day new normal rant over.

I emailed the boss in Idaho today with my intent to resign email. Congratulations and my Best Wishes! You were nice to give them notice, I might have just walked away. After some frustrating weeks away this spring I pulled the plug and will collect my pension starting November 1st. I might get some sort of part time job but hopefully my days of travel and motels are over. Well the boss from Idaho called me, we had a long talk and things are a changing. In the near future, he admitted that I can quit any time I want and that my performance has been exceptional, and if I could find it in myself he would like me to stay on. At my agreement, I received a huge bonus, and a nice bottle of Scotch. Off to San Diego with a much lighter assignment, with future runs in Arizona and New Mexico... I get two weeks paid vacation around Christmas. Sometimes it is worth ranting when warranted. Congratulations on your retirement, Dave! It takes place one day after my birthday.

I didnt upload the picture of the 1886 saddle carbine. But there is my son-in-law's Mossberg pump shotgun.

Going to a big BBq later today, I will see your Covid and raise you a rib bone. I was supposed to do the same today as it is the birthday weekend of a few of us. Governor of NM issues an order Friday, no gatherings of more than five indoors or out, public or private. We had 835 new cases reported on Friday. I am having some GI issues again. So, I will remain home. I hope you enjoy your event and stay well.

Yesterday I installed 5 2x8x16 rafters in the barn and put in 2 sheets of 5/8 decking for the loft storage. Ran out of screws before I could finish. I need a dozen 2x4s, 6 4x8 chipboard decking and some other stuff, but I'm running low on ready cash. I wish someone would buy the old house. Not bad for a 70 year old man. 😉🤠

A few days ago I misplaced my eyeglasses somewhere in the house. I have not been able to locate them despite extensive searching,
Most annoying. Now wearing an old pair of wire frames which are spliced together with a paper clip. Fortunately, the correct prescription!
This is what happens to old people, you youngsters. Be prepared.

My prescription changed so that I no longer need glasses for distance, but I just bought another 6 pack of reading glasses from Amazon. We probably have a hundred pair between us and can never find any of them. At least when I needed the glasses for distance I could keep up with them.

I usually do not wear them inside as they are for distance. Like driving or seeing who is poaching in my field. As long as I do not go anywhere, not a problem.
