Battery is acting up after seven years so ordered a new Optima Red Top direct saved over forty bucks buying local. Went up north again for the day looking as we have had enough of big city living.

I use two 850 CC Amp batteries in my truck. They last three years and no more. Interstate is the brand.

I have tried every battery over the years I have used Optima in my personal vehicles for over 20years . AGM is the only way to go they don't leak, once charged they can sit around for ever and they last three times as long. There are only a handful of US battery makers left and most batteries are junk right off the shelf. You can always tell when a AGM is going bad they discharge the reserve and that leads to slow starts after they sit for a few days in the driveway. The one I have has done this twice in the last month. So seven years and no AAA calls and no midnight rescues. I am also a ogre I will not jumpstart anyone as cars have far to much electronics to risk. I will loan you a beater battery charger if I know you.

I've been wanting to try an AGM battery in the truck and especially the trike. Problem is that every time I have needed a battery, I needed it NOW, and I had to take what I could get. 😒

The 75/25 is 199.99 + they add local tax www.optimabatteries.com/en-us The CCA rating can throw you off but take into account how long it can sustain the power draw.

I tired one of those Optima spiral batteries years ago. It did not survive the winters here.

They both freeze at the same rate. If it is that cold they make blankets, heated fuel tanks and engine oil warmers and you plug in when you park. Or you can stare at your ride until spring comes or if you are lucky you can ride a mule if it has not frozen solid as well.

Heaters for the two batteries would also help. If the fuel tank was not plastic, I could put a can of sterno under it during winter, LOL! Winter blend diesel helps.

80° and sunny here in central north Florida...still keeping an eye on the rapidly energizing tropical storm Zeta, hope it isn't related to the famed Zetas of Mejico. La., Miss., Ala. folks need to keep an eye on this storm...cause it looks like you may be gettin' a visit once again.

54 and drizzling rain in NE Texas today. We have been having perfect weather for a couple of weeks so it's needed. And I need a day off.

The long, cold Sandhills winter begins. Because of I-know-not-what the majority of the Killer Storms that are forecast for my immediate area miss me. (This is NOT a complaint!) We are in one right now with a prediction of up to 10” and -10 windchills. So far it has appeared as slightly over an inch and no more.I knock on wood. In the old days these Nebraska winters always killed lots of people. Today with modern insulation, windows, and high-efficiency propane furnaces we tend to survive. I use the winter to get stuff done that the Good Weather seasons cause me to avoid or procrastinate over. Got lots of books to read; writing to do; correspondence to catch up on; ammo to load; dogs to tell jokes to; pipes to smoke; meditations to meditate on. Winter can be good. It’s all a matter of attitude. At least until the power fails.

Had an HVAC guy out a couple of weeks ago to check out the heating system. He said that it checked out fine. Turned it on last night and nothing. Heating with the gas cooktop this morning.

Well, voted early today after all. Wife didn't want to have to possibly stand in line on election day - not with her new knees. I was glad that we were able to feed our ballots into the counting machine right then - just like we would on election day. Made me feel a lot better. I've hear too many news stories about boxes of ballots being found after elections - that were never counted.

Waiting for the blankety blank snow. NWS made a prediction with 100 per cent certainty for snow here this pm, overnight and all day tomorrow.
Not a dang blasted thing except wind, wind and more wind. When we get wind here there is no precipitation. It is blown out of the valley into eastern plains.
I cleaned out the wood stove, brought a cart load of firewood under the portal, drained, cleaned and filled the stock tanks, fed everybody including all the feral cats: Luger, Ruger, Walther, Beretta, Sadie, Fuzz Bomb, Mittens Romneycat, and the old mama Tortoiseshell with no-name.
Can you imagine? 100 per cent certainty. I would never stick my neck out that far on anything including death.

Have you tried a re-set? I turned it off for a few minutes and turned it back on. We always had a pilot light before, this one uses an electronic ignition. The ignition comes on for a minute, but no gas comes out. The valve is open. The last 15 years we've had electric heat that only got used a couple of days a year in Houston. I don't know to reset it.

If it’s a Coleman unit, there is a (shrouded) reset switch on the left side of the hood, toward the back. A little hard to find. Just push it. If it’s not a Coleman unit afraid I can’t help you.

It's a no-name, at least that I can find. If you can’t find a re-set button or switch, you might try this... Turn your thermostat down well below your chosen temperature. Turn off the furnace breaker at the main box. Wait ten minutes. Turn the furnace back on and slowly turn up your thermostat until your furnace starts... or doesn’t. Worth a try, but no guarantees.

After the standard busy morning taking 2 services, the rest of my Sunday was chilled. We had the fire on, made pizza and watched movies. Great day all round.
Today the reset switch has been flicked again - back to square one again. Have a great day.

Eight to ten inches of that white stuff. Wet snow, not the Alpine Powder. More coming down. Should help with the fires in CO and NM.
Cats not liking it. Much complaining from the indoor crew.

I called American Home Shield about the heater and they are supposed to be sending someone out. We've had a policy from them before and it was worthless. That was 15 years ago so I will give them a try. The people we bought the house from threw it in unasked.
