Went outside for a breath of air after supper. +4 degrees at 5:45 PM. Oh, it will be cold this night. Would not be surprised if it drops to -20 degrees again. We are way colder than Fairbanks or Anchorage, Alaska. We are way colder than Hibbing MN.

Phone hotspot data reset real internet tomorrow. Watched the Super Bowl. Watched the state of union and it was great except for all the children they let in the room. Great to see Rush get a award and sad that he has stage four lung cancer. Should not have let the dog watch she picked up bad habits from Nancey tearing up a Kleenex this morning. Oh well tough I run this house and she doesn't. Had to call out a RV guy to fix some PEX water lines on the fifth wheel and I end ended up replacing a bunch of stuff and he didn't hurt me to bad money wise. I am the worlds worst plumber so even if I bought the stuff and tools I would not have saved much. Had the AC going last night and the electric heaters on since this morning. Its nice to be clean and warm with running water instead of using the onboard low-pressure pump.

Thanks Ron I am level as well for the first time in years and don't mind the train. Excited to have real internet and cable Tv again it has been many years. The best part is Christy can get home in twenty minutes. Concrete pads rock and the water here is much better taste wise. I have to put pads on the truck and it is going to be nice using a floor jack.

Sounds great. The other place didn't sound like it was for long timers. We had a train behind our house for 15 years and barely noticed it. The whistle put me in a deeper sleep.

Glad you have found a good place, you were on my mind as to the inconvenience as we get older , how it sucks it what I'm saying. I'll sleep good tonight knowing you're settled. Sleep tight, gonna be a Chilly one in the morning.

That is good news you are settled in, Sean.
A level pad feels like home.
Sweet water is a wonderful thing and I thank God everyday for the wells we have here.
Hopefully , the train engineers will take it easy with the horn blowing.

Leaving in the morning for NE Texas for 10 days. It will be cool to cold, but not THAT cold. We are going to experience living in a small town. And do some home shopping. Enjoy your trip. Are you shopping for a new home or for stuff to put in your home?

32 in the swamp this morning so I have on pajamas and all the heaters going. Momma woke me up from a deep slumber to fire up the hotspot. The ninja chihuahua was having no part of this morning mess so I put her on the big bed and she promptly went back to sleep. Now sipping a nice cup of java, joe, coffee, espresso, Americana, jitter juice, mud, worm dirt strong enough to remove paint. I need to get my water filters set up today and change the front brakes on the truck. Wagner pads lasted 90,000 miles so that's what is going back on with a new set of rotors. Probably to lazy to do the brakes today and cold weather hurts more when doing work.

I was wrong.
Dipped down to only -11 degrees (F) this morning. Cold in the house. A 1500 watt plug-in is at Full Heat, warming the kitchen eatin' area. Woodstove repacked and blazing. About 56 degrees in the house. Should warm up soon.
Looks to be a nice clear and sunny day.
Enjoy yours, my friends.

AS cold as that sounds, your description somehow took me back to my youth on the farm in Southern Oregon. Except we were not allowed to use the electric heat and relied only on the wood stove in the front room. For all the so called hardship we endured, I sure do miss those simpler times! (Of course our temps rarely dropped below a plus 20 and I don't think they ever hit below zero...)

I loved that area. This was in the early 1970s before the population swelled with Californians. Not to worry, warmed up to +17 Degrees!

had a nice visit at the lounge Tuesday. Hubby wasn't doing too bad when I collected him from work but I didn't want to take chances. Came home, heated up leftovers and watched some videos. he had a restless night. he can't seem to sleep through the night and it isn't always back pain, so yesterday I went out and bought him a melatonin supplement. We came home from church, he took something for his back pain, ate a little snack and then I had him take a melatonin tablet. He pretty well slept through the night, got up at 4:30 and soaked his back for awhile, but he got a good 6 hours and that's about all he can manage normally. He seemed much perkier and sounded better this morning too. He has some comp time to take so he's got a four day weekend, taking tomorrow and Monday off. He'll be able to take it easy and sleep in, if possible, lol.

We have arrived in the country. Turned on the TV and nothing to see here. I think I will nap. Little house in the small town of Jefferson. Cute and cozy. Will probably go exploring for supper.

Envious. Wishing I'd made better choices when I was younger so I could be retiring soon, sitting on my porch in the country with my wife beside me watching the critters, trees etc.

Drove from Miami to Tallahassee...running like a scared rabbit from the crazies in Miami...got to Tally about 10:30PM, 12 hours it took to get back home for a while. Running 80MPH for 12 hours is a little too much for an old man like me. Won't do that again...usually we take a couple days so that I don't have to drive like a madman...but we wee trying to beat the storm front that was approaching our home. After kissing the ground where we live we (all 3 of us...wife, me and small doggie) hit the bed...got up this morning to find that the storm was coming today instead of last night. Glad to be back home if only for a couple weeks, then I have to go back to Miami to help brother who has gone from bad to worse...talked to a couple of surgeons re: kidney transplant, none of them were in favor as they prefer a scorecard that shows successes not failures (deaths)...so we are back to square one...him on dialysis 3 times a week to survive, had to replace a pacemaker and find a new spot for his shunt for the dialysis...found he had a fungus in his bloodstream...he went into ICU for a couple weeks, now out and trying to get better...if nothing else 2 brothers are finally talking to each other after 20 years of pretty much silence.

Peace between brothers or other family members is always a better road to go...took us 20 years and near death to finally get him to reach out...things are still sometimes strained, but at least we are talking and my offer of a kidney seems to have softened his approach.

Crappola ATT internet installed 12.5 Mbps and only 2.4ghz. They have fiber at the street but that is only for the newer homes up the road, They also installed a dish behind my rig. I feel so cheated like a hooker who did not get paid. They have to send out a crew to bury the 300ft of coaxial cable and the install guy spent 9hours getting it to work, But it works and no bouncing and my network is mine and no sharing. My first clue was he said I needed a phone line? ? Yep a trip back in time to the year 2000 tech wise. One has to love the way they brag up 5g and 6g networks with blazing fast speeds with the promise of the wireless home. On the website claiming speeds up to 100Mbps with instant downloads showing shiny happy couples on the couch snuggling to the joys of the modern connected home. No ipv4/6 protocols even needed. The promise of 4k TV a dream running at 720p and few at 1080p. The government paid them 400 billion for a fiber optic network coast to coast by 2014 that has yet to be even close to being installed even though that number grows with each surcharge on the bill each month. That's a tax of over 5000 dollars per home. I could move to South Korea they have fast internet but I digress. Rant over

Walt... You're back!!!
So glad you're back safe and sound, and that you checked in so quickly after returning.
Sorry to hear that the transplant wasn't an option. I'll be thinking of you all.

Thanks, Sean, Paddy and all Patch members...sure is good to be back if only for 2 weeks and then back to Hell's waiting room (Miami)...just talked to my brother, he is waiting for another surgery...this time it is kidney stones...not much left to replace on him and they always have a hard time finding a vein that hasn't already been used. Feels great to be back among friends and brother pipers!
