Making a list of musts I need from the grocery store. For starters coffee that does not suck. I love my wife but she picks the worst coffee to surprise me with, really I have three pounds of coffee beans that to me is vile. You ever notice how mixing good coffee with bad coffee is a waste of time? Coffee beans should be oily and roasted so they do not look like Spanish peanuts. I am not going to say a word to her about it, lest the coffee surprise could stop altogether. I can't taste the difference between one cup and another...so any bean works for me. Might be because I adulterate it with tons of milk. I do like some coffee with my creamer.

I remember someone asking the longest married couple in the world what the trick was. The husband answered ( yes dear). I have used it works well.

I was going to put up paneling (plywood) in the barn today, but my wife had me move furniture and put down rugs. That took all my energy for today. 😴

Took the Rhino and some tools back along the creek to clean up my natural ground blind for Saturday. It’s a huge old willow with a Y-trunk that fell years ago but is still alive. Inside the Y is a really good stand overlooking a main path in and out of the thickets along the creek. Didn’t take very long.

Thick misty fog and about sixty degrees my personal favorite weather this time of the year. Good coffee in the cup as I stare at the shots I need to take. The dog has taken over my spot on the big bed. Momma had to go into work so I have the house all to myself. Not a bad start to the day.

Cut grass yesterday with Zero Turn, hauled big branches to burn in fire pit, parish has been lax at picking up hurricane debris, not complaining, there is a lot, beautiful day, seems like a repeat today,

Cold, snowing and blowing a strong, wicked south wind. I had promised to take my stock trailer and help an elderly lady finish moving to her apartment in Spokane today, but we're gonna postpone that.

Illinois has been having some pretty good weather. Several days in the 70's last week. Nice. The maple in the front yard dropped all it's leaves, so I was able to clean the rain gutters and install "strainers" at each downspout to keep them clear. The Bradford Pear in the back yard never drops it's leaves until the 1st or 2nd week in December, but it did just that earlier this week - strange!
But fall has arrived now. Had the first real frost the other night. In the 30's today.

73 and clear in NE Texas today. I have started putting up the plywood on the walls. Heading back to Humble tomorrow morning early for another load of junk. Last time we were down we harvested a bushel of oranges from our tree and will probably get another bushel.

You should graft that Orange tree to a Lime at your new house. Limes can handle more cold so you don' have to worry about a hard freeze killing the tree. Pick up a lime tree with long thorns as they tend to be more hardy. Back from playing disc golf now almost time for a nap.

The weather got pretty nasty here, and the electricity started blinking. We have one young horse that is more thin-skinned and has a lighter coat than the others, so we moved her into the barn out of the wind and snow. Filled up the trough and several buckets with water in case we loose the well-pump, unhooked the stock trailer from the 4x4 truck so that the truck is available if need arises.
Came down to the shed and built a fire in the stove, fired up a cigar and am just waiting it out.
That's what life is...you just do what you can do and then dont fret.

The barometer is changing. Not looking forward to my usual migraine/hung over type feeling I always get. The curse of getting older?

Cold and breezy morning. Stove cranked up.
After being in Taos yesterday at some many stores and around so many people, it is good to be home. People in town are getting stressed. I walked into a market pushing a cart to shop and a woman tried to grab it away from me and then snipped "Since I was through"? Another one of those outsiders staying here and bringing their big city pushy manners with them. I had to laugh.
One of the most loved old guys in town died from COVID in a hospital in Colorado SPrings. There were no beds in New Mexico. He was brought home and a big parade was held, hundreds of vehicles, fire trucks, town police, sheriff department cars escorted him through town. Nice to see the love and respect.
