Warm, windy, and hazy. It is essentially an politician in August.

The barometer is changing. Not looking forward to my usual migraine/hung over type feeling I always get. The curse of getting older? I take it you’re like me when you can feel the temperature change? Almost feels like a headache?

Topped out at 41F or 5C today. Went golfing in the cold with a bowl of S.Galwith St. JAMES flake to keep me warm. Nothing but rain in the forecast for the next ten days. Life on the wet coast this time of year. Grrr.......

Cold and windy. Only low 40s but I have been out in 0° and it didn’t feel as cold. Deer don’t like wind and usually will just hunker down in their beds and wait it out. But it lessened a bit mid-afternoon so instead of bagging 1st day of deer rifle I went out to see if anything was moving. Does, 9-monthers, lots of them. Then two nice big boys crossed right in front of my Y-tree stand. I chose the biggest one and the 6.5 Grendel did the rest. Ten-pointer might go 180. Off to the processor t’row.

I went shopping today..I get scared when I have to be around folks that I don't know..The virus is going crazy here in my neck of the woods.I buy in bulk so I don't have to go as often. There's starting to be a few more folks in the stores now..Those who still have a little bit of money left are starting to shop for the holidays..My wife got a turkey today. It's not my favorite food but I guess that's what we're having for Thanksgiving this year.

Went to Harris County today. God I hate being around all those people, drove 522 miles and spent 5 and a half hours loading the trailer from the store rooms.

Today is downsizing day. From some pipes, to a car. Just stuff that I don't use, or need. I need to make myself more mobile...
Stay tuned....

A brisk 15 degrees (F) this morning. The stove went out overnight so it is cold in the house this morning. Fire started, Dogs out for morning business. Marbles wandered to the far end of the east yard. It is good he is getting around and learning the territory. Plenty of scents from many dogs over the years.

Its already 40° this morning, and no wind. Shweetie is in the kitchen making fried eggs for breakfast and Im finishing a cup of coffee in the living room while waiting.
Heading in to church later this morning, but no real plans after that. Except for hay. Ill have to run down the road and fetch hay back for the horses.

I wish the area's I used to hunt were that plentiful, but it was public land. TBH I'm envious, I have not been hunting since I left Oregon in fall of 2010. Enjoy your Venison!

Spending time with my son, went to lowes to price materials for a makeshift awning for my porch but my back was hirings so bad I had to bag it for today. Icy hot, ibuprofen, and songs sitting time. Now I'm going to fire up the lathe and work a little more on my next pipe.

I find myself rather depressed tonight. There is someone who is no longer here. Someone I could have done something. It weighs on me so often that I can't sleep. R.I.P. my friend. I am so f$#@ing sorry I couldn't get there in time.

A good day. Jack and I took my deer over to the processor, a 90 mile r/t. But b/c of Covid he is just about the only one still in business. The deer went 192# live weight— formula-derived based on dressed weight. The guy also does smoked meats and cheeses, so had to bring home a couple samples. His smoked and seasoned turkey breast is to die for. When I go back for my meat, t’row, I’ll have to glom onto some more of that. Jack wanted to try some on the way back but I told him to watch the road and stop driving on the shoulder.

I am so f$#@ing sorry I couldn't get there in time. Really sorry to hear that. I hope you are feeling better soon. I don’t know your situation, but I do know from personal experience that sometimes we tell ourselves we could have “done something” and in truth we could not have.

I am so f$#@ing sorry I couldn't get there in time. I am sorry to hear about you losing your friend...it is the time you were with him that mattered, the fact that you could not make it at the end should not cause you distress. That kind of goes hand in hand with my wife. She always takes an old gal shopping every week. Marge has COPD so she is tethered to an oxygen tank, her husband has been languishing in a nursing home for over a year. Today I could tell my wife wanted me to go with her as I am off to Las Cruces/ El Paso all week. That...was an ordeal, we spent two hours at Albertson's while Marge had long comments on every product she was buying, and a turtle would pass her in a race. My wife is constantly taking Marge places throughout the week and it is never a burden for her even though I know she would rather be doing something else. My mom told me "Don't bring roses to my grave, bring them when I can enjoy them" I married a gal that I wish my mom had met.

I don't think that I will ever see the end. The move will end. Then Phase 2 will start: not being able to find anything. We haven't found everything from the last 3 moves. Why should this one be any different? We have filled a dozen bags with trash after we unloaded the trailer. Still filled up the 16x30 loft with crap. Going back tomorrow to start moving my tools.
