Actually got everything done today that was on the list. Got some appliances moved for someone else, got the washer and dryer picked up for Shweetie and had a profitable visit at the attorney's office looking for answers to help get this young man back on track. And the attorney didnt even charge me. Yet. you forgot the word "yet". As soon as the office manager realizes you didn't pay, the bill is going out.

It's 1:30 am. I just woke up from a nightmare. Funny how vivid dreams can be. 😉

I remember dreaming that I got shot by terrorists...the pain wasn't there, but the feeling of terror, as they lined up their gun on me, was very real in my dream. I suppose I reacted how I would have reacted had it been real, but I'll never forget that feeling.

Still, the thing about dreams is that you can have an irrational fear. I get angry and fight in my dreams. It's a nightmare for my wife.

Nice cool morning I was snug as bug under my blanky until my wife just had to mess with me. After pricing wiper blades for my pick up I may only drive on sunny days from now on.

I’m not a psychologist but makes you wonder what was going on in your life when this nightmare occurred. Perhaps you were at the crossroads and your subconscious was trying to tell you something? Any Freud’s on our forum?

Wait till they find out who John really is, then the proverbial dung will hit the fan. He poses as a country gentleman, but we know better. You are to far off there. When I moved on the outskirts of this tiny remote village, many people wondered why and who I am. This community is 92 per cent Hispano descendents of the original settlers in the early 1800s. You see, a couple of years before I arrived another gringo moved into the area. He asked people here to supply him with elk antlers, trophy mounts, meat. The local cazadores were only to happy to earn a living that way and complied in volume. Turned out, this guy was an agent of the NM Department of Game & Fish. He arrested or cited almost every adult male here. That created no end of consternation and reinforced the local belief that all outsiders are evil. When I showed up they thought I was a replacement and avoided me like trouble they did not need. After a while, it became clear I am no cop. Then the rumor spread I was a Drug Dealer. The local Deadheads attempted to score off me but only received a dram or two of Wild Turkey. Finally, most everyone figured out we (the wife and I) were what we seemed- two old people in search of peace and quiet. A couple of years later, another pair of gringos arrived. The male of the pair is an Italian American from St. Louis. He packed a 1911 everywhere he went, especially while fishing in the local creek. The federal witness relocation program became a topic of great certainty here. So, you just never who it is that lives nearby in these parts.

Good story, John. Funny, and serious both. When I moved here there was similar curiosity. Very remote, about one person for every 50 sq miles, and for much of it a lot less. Folks don’t ask many questions out here, but some just couldn’t resist. When asked why I moved into such country I’d just say “Senility” and let it go at that. That seemed to satisfy ‘em.

I need to proof read and edit what I write. The errors were dumber than they needed to be. LOL!

I can’t say it’s a common thing, back from S Asia I slept with a knife under my pillow, you didn’t want to wake me, got married, lost the knife but wife and kids were afraid to wake me. Now it’s ok, but still you don’t want to surprise me.

Yep, “surprises” can be unpleasant. Had a friend that thought it was funny to come up on me real quiet when I was working on something in the shop, often without my hearing aids, and tap me on the shoulder. At a distance of 2 or 3 feet the end of a .45 is a very large hole to be looking down.

Probably shouldn't have but I apologized while asking him to never do that again. He never did.

I got up this morning and had breakfast, talked with the wife for a while and took a nap. Thinking about taking another one. It's a beautiful day and I haven't been outside or even gotten dressed. All of the work is catching up with me. Being 70 is a real thing.

Warmer today, about 50°. The wind has mostly died and there is a gentle rain falling.
I tried to hook up the new washer and dryer, but the hoses on the washer wont reach over to the connections. Town is too far to just "pop in" for a little something that small. So Ill make a combined trip in the morning and get several things done at one time.

Lord knows that's truth, right there. My Dad used to tell my Mom "I think the whole world's gone crazy but me and thee, and sometimes I aint so sure about thee".
