Good for you sir! Forty families will appreciate what you did today! All the best brother.....👊👍😁 I appreciate the sentiment, but Im just the cowboy with a trailer doing the mule work. Someone else actually donated the meals, and the ladies are making up the boxes and giving them to the folks who come in to recieve them. Ive got the easy part. There's people all over this land doing these things this time of year, and it sure makes me scratch my head and wonder how folks can say this country never really was that great. Roger that Dewayne. Just remember if it’s not for people like you doing the logistical work, those 40 meals won’t be going anywhere. I APPRECIATE your efforts too sir!

The condition of the packaging is a good clue. Bad sign if it looks moisture-affected. They look OK. A little dusty. Dust is good. If it comes off easy and not sludgy it means “dry” and that’s what you wanna see. I bet they’ll go BANG just fine.

I went to a local small town gun shop today and was able to pick up some favorite powder and some 308 "projectiles". At Scheels, I got some powder and a box of large pistol primers (1000). They had 2 dozen boxes of the large pistol primers - but no small pistol primers.
Small pistol primers are going to be hard to get - since they are used in so many common calibers like 38 Special and 9mm - and 40 caliber. Some manufacturers are even starting to use them in 45 caliber.
But I'm pretty well set for now. I just may not be able to do as much practice shooting as I'd like.

Getting crazy out there again with the lockdown and restrictions.
I went to the market and stood in line. No carts in the store so I had to go into the parking lot to find one. As I entered the store, a woman grabbed the cart and pulled it from me, announcing, "Since I am through." This is the second time in two weeks. Fortunately, my wits were with me for a change and I announced in a loud voice for all to here, "I have not yet begun to shop!", recognizing a far more distinguished American under more valiant circumstances said it better.

84 F and sunny today. More eejits, although I did help the Texas State DSHS solve a major problem with an easy fix. It's like they try to make things harder than they need to be.

At 1:50pm this afternoon my youngest child, 21 year old daughter called me at work. She was hysterical, so I immediately assumed anxiety attack (She has a pretty severe anxiety disorder). "I did my usual calm down sweety, breath."
The first coherent sentence she spoke moments later was "I'm sorry Dad, I wrecked the car". We're a one car family, its financed thru a private deal with my boss and I'm quite upside down in it. This is all to say the usual adult child expecting dad to be pissed was even more so for her.
My reaction... I asked if anyone was hurt, and was the car drivable. 4 cars involved, no serious injuries. We have insurance for the rest. I assured her it was going to be ok, all while instant messaging my boss asking for an uber to her location. Boss of course did so.
This evening, after getting home she developed some pretty severe back pain so I took her to the ER. Muscle strain from the impact and the air bags, but thankfully nothing that wont heal with time and muscle relaxers.
I am truly grateful tonight. It could have been much much worse. Both my children who were in the car walked away with bumps and bruises. The car is totaled, but like I said, that's why we have insurance.
Longer than normal post for me, but I had to share. Be safe my friends, and thank whatever higher power you believe in for each and every blessing.

That sucks Terry, but you have the proper perspective on it.
A car is a replaceable object, the kids are not.

Met up with a couple of friends that I have from back in my glory days living in a shelter. But still great to catch up! I gave them some tobacco and cigars. Should keep them for a while. Everyone sober but struggling. I give you credit!!! If you ever need support you can pm me.

Just finished re-doing some things on momma's chicken house. Who knew the yard birds required such specifics?
It's sunny out, about 40°, wet from the last few days of rain but no wind. I have a few other minor chores to do today, but nothing serious.
Got in after dark from delivering all the turkey dinners to the food pantry, so I didnt park and unhook the horse trailer. Need to do that. Gotta put the diesel around where I can plug it in if the temp drops again. I might get the gumption to go do some chainsaw work for more firewood...or I might not.

Busy day. Shampooed the carpets. Cooked a turkey, then striped the meat off the bones, vacuum/sealed it in ~1 lb packages and put it in the freezer. We'll use it for various recipes/meals. We do the same with a spiral cut ham about once a year.

I wish we had pantry or group providing turkey dinners for Thanksgiving! It gonna be disappointing eating a ham and cheese sandwich, LOL!!! Before the pandemic, our Senior Center in the next village used to serve a nice turkey dinner with all the trimmings. All Senior Citizens were welcome. Not this year. There is another group which distributes food boxes including a turkey to the needy. I hope that is still going on but have no idea. It is a well kept secret. Applicants have to get on a list. There is a two hour period on a certain day when the operators take names. That day, time and place are passed on word of mouth. If not on the list, no food box for you!! I had to pick one up for a sick elderly neighbor years ago and it was quite an ordeal being admitted to the warehouse where the boxes were stacked and getting one issued to me. So, it is nice to read about a program of sharing in another place that proceeds well.

I love turkey and, who knows, maybe I will cook one for myself and the dogs and cats. Too many dishes is confusing to me now. I can still stuff a small bird. and make a gravy. I like the left overs and have vowed to make Red Chile Turkey Tamales for years but never like the old Red's Tamale Company of Oakland CA.

We used to always buy a frozen turkey roll. Just enough for our small family, no bones or complex cooking. Haven't seen them in years. They had the white and dark meat all rolled together and a packet of giblet gravy.
