I just got back home..My son called me.He was at a store across town..His car battery was dead and his car wouldn't start.I had to go jump start the car...He got it back home..Now for a new battery. If you can hold off till tomorrow and there is a Costco nearby, it is the best thing going.

Well at least it was daylight. Just got my new Optima battery last week after tripping over it for a month. Called the RV tech to fix a leaking drain pipe because I can still get down but the getting back up part is challenging. Better to watch a younger man lay on cold concrete and undo the heavy belly panels that way I can watch and cuss for him. At least the guy is honest he has worked for us before a few times in the past. Fake fireplace and Honeywell HCE840B heater going all day as it should freeze for the first time this winter tonight. No worries toasty warm inside with out long Johns or having to haul wood from the pile uphill both ways.

45⁰F in central Illinois today - and yesterday. Sunny yesterday. Overcast today. Good day to work outside - putting out the Christmas decorations and put up the lights. Looks pretty good. Nothing extravagant.
Last year I didn't put up the lights, so I was thrilled that they all lit up when they were plugged in after 2 years.

Pretty much an inside day. 20° this morning and only 42° in the afternoon altho it was sunny. A brisk wind kept me in even tho the dogs wanted to go running. They made me feel like a wimp but at least I stayed warm and toasty. Finishing up DEAD RECKONING a detailed account of the demise of Yamamoto at the hands of US pilots. Also nearing the end of ALL CREATURES GREAT AND SMALL. I like to keep a couple of books going at once and have a long list to catch up on.

I COMPLETED the paneling in the barn finally. But I am not FINISHED yet because I still have to paint. I plan on painting it tomorrow with a sprayer.

Christmas lights. On the outside. Fortunately they will come down faster than they went up...and next year we will have permanent lights, so no more climbing ladders over and over every five feet.

Heading out to do the banking. Taking my tobacco pouch and a cob. It amazes me how many people look at the guy walking with his pipe. Looks of suprise, intrest and also those remembering someone who smoked a pipe.

+ 10 degrees (F) this morning as the Sun breaks over the mesa to the east.
Cold morning. Fire dies down in wood stove so I can scoop out the accumulated ash. This takes up half the capacity of the stove. As we head in to December, I will need ALL the room inside that stove for firewood.

Back from Taos. What a disaster. I had to go to Smith's (Kroeger) for Pharmacy pick-up. 45 minute wait to enter store. Got Rxs but out of cat food. So, on to Walmart. 30 minute wait to enter store. Plenty cat food. My knees will not take all the standing and waiting then walking about.

You really can't roll or brush the rough plywood. Too many splinters and knots. I just want to make it brighter before I move my tools in. If it works, fine, if it doesn't, oh well.

If it works, fine, if it doesn't, oh well. You know best. Sprayer is fine. certainly faster. Did you consider wall paper? My old mother was the queen of wallpaper when she was young and I was small. She could do a room up in no time and was neat about it. She loved the stuff. You could have found some with choo-choo trains or maybe horses.....

Same here. I have no patience whatsoever. Thank goodness my wife doesn’t seem to mind.
