trailboss ... I thought it was your anniversary when you guys came up and we went for dinner & drinks? Either way ... huge congrats! This is our blind date anniversary. Pretty much both of us look forward to this date more. Awsome picture Charlie! Who was smart enough to hook the two of you up back then?

Cold with fresh snow today. Gotta hook up the horse trailer after lunch and head down to the next town south of us to pick up the donations for this month's Food Pantry to be held tomorrow. It's early this time because of the holidays. The snow plows should have everything cleared out by then.

Safe drive Dewayne.
Just about to sit down for lunch. Grilled cheese and a breakfast sausage. A glass of milk for company. After lunch I have Georgian cream in a Brigham Algonquin. I will be finishing my milk with that. π₯Έ

β Awsome picture Charlie! Who was smart enough to hook the two of you up back then?β
It was her sister that was pretty wild and a polar opposite of her that dated my cousin. It was all pretty amazing that we met, because my wife took a dim view of who her sister ran with.

Good Monday Morning. -3 degrees (F) this Dawn. Colder than forecast but not unexpected. No anti-Gel in the fuel, so the truck will not be running for a for a while. Suits me, LOL! 47 degrees in the house but soon it will be warmer.Β If I can get the barn door open, pile bales on the toboggan and drag out to feed the critters. That is enough activity for me! Wow, John....them temps will put a pep in your step. A pep to get the chores done so you can get back to the house, I reckon.

Thankful for small mercies.
Normally, I have to drag a toboggan with hay bales quite a ways through the snow to reach the animals. It is a strain for me.
Today the were near the barn and I could summon them in through the open side to feed. All I had to do was toss the bales over the dividing wall into the accessible side of the barn. I called them and they came right to me inside. I guess the barn is dark and that is disturbing to them- potential for predators? They are led by one of the orneriest old donkey I have known. Even though we have been together for over 20 years, he is still stubborn. Finally, he cooperated. Bless his heart!

Today is the day my pipe wall gets packed away to make room for a butt load of Christmas related do-dads...60 or so pipes and their racks ,24 half pint jars of tobacco that spend the rest of the year at arms reach, all pack away. Nutcrackers ,snowmen, raindeer all fill up the wall unit I built years ago ,to house and display the result of T.A.D. and P.A.D. Long ago I tried to explain that pipes were Christmas related ,Santa smokes a pipe, right?...that reasoning meant nothing when compared to the wife need for items of red, green and gold...so that's it... the upside is , I have two weeks or more to check on larger jars from the cellar and reach for pipes that don't see enough action any other tome and keep peace in the family...a win/win. the unit can be seen in my avatar ,behind the fat guy in the green shrit.

I learned many valuable lessons from owning livestock. The most important one was "never trade for anything that eats."

+10 degrees (F) with falling snow.
Many complaints from the Cat Department.
Marbles loves the snow. When he raises his head to stand more or less on point I can see he is a thick sturdy dog.

A bit warmer today, rain/snow mix. Had to get up first thing and drive someone to the ER. (Not family, and they're ok). The rest of the day is fairly open. I'll probably finish transfering toolbox, tow straps etc. from the old truck to the new one.

First part of the day, mostly uneventful. Up pretty early, and a bit busy with work to start. Slowed down and I had a chance to have some grub, and get my shopping list for Christmas Eve completed. Took a quick trip to gas up the Jeep, and then Home Depot to grab some salt and a new shovel in preparation for this Nor'easter heading our way. Hopefully, I can coast through the rest of the day.

Cold today. Day high of 18 degrees (F).
Other than the most pressing chores, I really do not feel like going outside for more than a few minutes.
Did my chores outdoors wearing moccasins without socks. Something I picked up from Gary Snyder during his years in the mountains, wearing sandals in the snow. I think of him and smile.

Got my to-do list done early this morning.
Took mom out for our weekly lunch date for baked lasagna and Cesar salad.
Bit of a surprise weather wise today as the sun made an appearance and topped out to mid 40s.

Snow on the ground this morning and with us all day since it stayed nippy. Since the doggos had been cheated out of their run y'day I had no choice but to take them out. They do about 8-10Y for every one of mine (or more!) and I did about 2000Y so they got to run off some energy at least. Wish I could bottle it! The house and most of the outbuildings are in an old woods with mixed conifers and deciduous trees. Most of our runs get played out in and around a 13-acre field just north of the houseβ a field I hope to make into a wildlife food and habitat project come the spring. They cast this field back and forth as we circumnavigate it at least once. Due to our wildcat, 'coon, coyote, owl, hawk, and turkey populations there are no pheasants or quail for them to roust, but they keep trying. Hope to remedy that for them soon, with a little luck.
