I joined American Family Fitness today, and tomorrow I'll get the first real workout since my old gym closed back in May. I wont be pushing too hard ,right at first, my only goal is to get back on the road to a lifestyle that will keep me around for a while.

Having issues with my left ankle again. I was wounded on deployment ten years ago and still causing me grief. Like the common cold, it has a will of its own and comes and goes without warning. I’m still on rehab and have meds for it but I’ll be immobile until the inflammation and pain subsides. Having said that, I’m NOT complaining as many of my soldiers came home in worse shape than me. The truth is my new irons arrive today (for those of you who don’t know, I’m a golfer) and I won’t be able to take them out for a test drive. Now that really HURTS!

It's going to be a busy day today. I have to make medicinals for my daughter. Send out some packages and bake brownies. I have to clean the kitchen before I can do anything there. I have to contact a prospective client/patient.
Yup my schedule is full. Hopefully I can enjoy a pipe now and then.

I received a text in the middle of the night, my niece committed suicide in Wichita. I haven’t seen her for years, she grew up and started a professional life and was on the fast track as a chemist for several Napa valley wineries and made a name for herself.
Her marriage went to hell, her husband abused drugs and she drank a lot, and she moved to Wichita initially to live with my brother (her dad). The drinking escalated, and job prospects just are not there. Totaled her new Audi and two other cars. Facing court, unemployment, the prospect of not being able to pay the mortgage on her California home was too much.
I start my new job tomorrow, or I would fly out to be with my brother.

Thanks, guys.
After re-reading the text earlier, her DUI took the lives of two people.
What a mess.

So sorry to hear this. I have had one neice and 2 great nieces commit suicide. All because of temporary issues. One was only 16. It hurts more because it's so stupid. If they had just reached out.

Charlie thank you for going to see your brother. You mite not know what someone needs untill you are there with them. My brother came down years ago when my wife and I lost our daughter. It was nice just to have him there. I agree, he lives by himself, and is somewhat hermit like, but he has a close friend as a next door neighbor, but it will do us both good. I am going to try and get him to spend a few weeks at my home this winter, it is much more hospitable than being on the cold Prarie lands. Thanks to the pandemic, flights are pretty reasonable, I can get a round trip nonstop for under $200 fly out on Christmas Eve return at midnight the following Sunday. Within the last week, a gangster thug that a niece on my wife’s side overdosed and died. My daughter in law married to my son’s half brother tried suicide by cop, and received the Glock treatment, it looks like he will survive... he has serious mental issues. Both of them are in California, both I do not know, thankfully.

Currently 32 here, with fluffy white stuff coming down at a decent clip. Wooo!!. I spent my morning prepping for our little Nor'easter. Watered and salted the sidewalks. I assume people look at me funny when I'm out there with my watering can, but it's actually a more effective way to pre-treat a sidewalk than just throwing the salt down. No different than how they brine the roads. Ran some food over to a friends just after noon, and now back at my desk, pretending to work, and puffing on a bowl of Fr. Dempsey.

45 degs, North wind 15 to 20, UPS man just delivered a cover for my Yeti lowball mug. Wife going to Albertsons for some groceries, sent the Children money for Christmas thru PayPal, only twin boy coming for Christmas. Hadn’t put up a tree, not in the mood, not that I’m an anti Santa Claus guy, just weary of it all.
