In the old days here in Carolina there were a lot of dirt roads.(Red Clay) They turned into slippery mud when they were wet..Not many of them around these days.

One house that we were going to look at yesterday was a beautiful 21 acres with an artesian spring. Unfortunately, the road was clay. Wet clay. Got 10 feet on to it and barely was able to back off. I see why it's priced so low. Are you possibly overlooking several advantages to living on such a road? First, unlikely JWs and LDS missionaries will visit you. Then, Process Servers are unlikely to place themselves at risk on a road they cannot navigate. Less passing traffic to endanger pets and small people. In my experience, the best tires for a clay road are the WWII military bi-directional. They are still made in 16 inch diameter for the public. If you need the maker, I can check my records. great points!

The next house we are going to look at is on top of a hill over TX 155 in Linden. All brick and 2500 Sq Ft. If they make it up the hill they will run or roll downhill. If that doesn't work then we will be looking at some in Carthage. Almost got stuck twice today. The factory traction control works pretty good, but my wife has already agreed to posi-trac and gears. Probably go with BFG MTs on the back.

Lives in Houston his whole life and cant drive on mud, go figure. They have a whole new class of mud up here. My truck isn't made for it. It's been raining hard for a week and it's like Harvey up here. We saw a house on a hill that had land all around it 3 days ago and it's an island now.

Red Clay, that's all we got here and it'll stick to ya like ................well, you know. Had it in Mansfield too. Putting in a new (at the time) government housing project when I was a plumber and if ya stepped in it after a rain it would suck your leg right up to your knee. We had to drive our trucks through the stuff and I remember learning the hard way never to hit the brakes till ya got to where you wanted to be...........it would suck the truck up to the fenders if ya did.

Nothing is more fun than watching a big big full size 4x4 sink in the mud and the diesel ones do it even faster.

I used to race a VW Beetle in the mud races at Mecom's down by the airport on the south side of Houston. It was a big deal with hundreds of competitors. We won our class a few times and placed most of the time. Stock VW with 11.5x32 paddle tires on the back and tall skinny tires on the front. The car slid on the belly pan. Lots of fun. When the big iron got stuck they had a tractor to get it out. When the tractor got stuck a D12 was used. When the D12 got stuck the racing was over for the day. Then we changed the wheels and drove it home. And all over Mexico.

On the Ram forum they all say that the Hemi is best for off-roading. It weighs 485 compared to the Cummins 1120. Someone suggested the little 3 liter turbo diesel, but it apparently can't take the abuse. It is 35 lbs heavier than the Hemi too.

I was educated at a young age about farming. Most of the work is just drudgery, but picking cotton is just punishment for a 8 year old. Even small time dairy farmers use milking machines over here. My neice used them for her dairy goats. Haven't seen any dairy operations in NE Texas this week, but there are a lot of the huge chicken factories.

It would be a huge understatement to say that this is strong Trump country. Trump 2020 flags have replaced the Texas and Come and Take It flags you would usually see. The huge rolls of of hay have Trump 2020 stenciled on them. It's everywhere. Big problem is that all the small town hospitals have closed because of the changes in the Obamacare act and Texas opted out of the Medicaid expansion. Unintended consequences. No rural medical care is the result.

Which reminds me of Mr. Ross Perot's comment about Bill Clinton and neighboring Arkansas, "World Class Chicken Pluckers". Sounds better with Mr. Pee-row saying it.
