51 Fords are really easy to work on! My first ruck was a 1948 Ford F1 with a Flathead V-8 out of a Mercury. Three Speed floor shift tranny/ Man I loved that truck. It lies at the bottom of a ravine now. Been there over 50 years. My 51 had a 265 Corvette engine with the 2x4 carbs. Original transmission and 12v conversion. The 6 volt horn was amazing on 12v!

If I wasnt such a hardcore Foundation Quarter Horse guy (no modern thoroughbred breeding) I would be a foundation Morgan guy. The old Morgans, back to the cavalry lines, are outstanding animals.
I wish I had more time with horses, but was mostly raised in the city. My family back in West Virginia still raises Quarter Horses. They used have Morgans as well, but they don't have much call for draft horses these days. It is still nice to see them when visiting, but I am a horrible rider. On a weird note, the last horse I was around was a Percheron that was used for medieval jousting festivals. Beautiful beast to behold, especially when charging toward you.

Marty is taking a sabbatical from posting as his health issues are taking a toll on his general happiness and positive outlook on things. Keep Marty in your prayers he is truly a great guy who deserves them even if he does not want them. Our last conversation he was working on getting his short wave Ham radio up and going with some better antennas.

I have been on mostly trail horses. They suck. My brother bought an Arabian stallion and mare in foal in 1971. I rode him about 5 minutes before I fell off. About a year later my neice was dating a champion cowboy and she shamed me into riding his cutting horse. I was in heaven until my foot came out of the stirup. He was trained to stop and I went over his head. He looked at me like "are you OK?" The trail horses don't care. They rub you off on trees, barbed wire, whatever is closest to the cactus and rocks.

After struggling through today's NY Times Crossword Puzzle, I am considering a drone strike upon the author, Mr. Joe Deeney. May he rot in Hell!

Ditto and hope he is feeling better. His presence here is missed and the void cannot be filled.

Just had a lovely conversation with Mr. Schulte, an old pipe master who has retired to Florida and maintains a pipe restoration business.
I have four Schulte’s pipes and they are great smokers! All shop pipes were made be two American manufacturers and finished by Mr. Schulte himself. Extra markings are a price code.
I mentioned my interest in cleaning and restoration and he told me if I moved there he’d put me to work!

Dug a little deeper in the 5.3 today. Dang GM loves 10mm bolts as I am all the way down to the intake valley cover and heads only needing a hand full of tools. Not in a real big hurry as it is cool and rainy. Just messed around long enough to bring lunch home. Momma gets to start working two days a week from home in a month or so. So I am destroying a useless table and turning it into a desk.

He was Dunhill’s/ Lane ltd’s official pipe repairman in the USA.

just adding my good thoughts to Marty & hopes for better overall health. Knowing I've been around the hobby for a long time, never heard of Mr. Shulte but thanx for the update(s).

A brisk 15 degrees (F) this morning. High thin overcast sky. 55 degrees in the house, warming slowly. The stove went out overnight and I did not rise to refill it.
Looks to be another quiet day on the NM CO border.

Cool, sunny morning here in SE Texas. In a bad mood as I have just realized that my Astros World Championship t-shirts have just become painting and around-the-house shirts. 😭💩💩🤠

They are still good Ron remember I used to live in Vegas and watch parley cards. I came to the conclusion that all sports are rigged. Go ahead buy a sports parley card and try to get ten for ten and beat the spreads as you try to pick ten winners. No one is that good. If I can wear a Raiders hat from LA the last time they had a good season. You can surely wear a Orange Lastros shirt. Pete Rose for the hall of fame, anyone.

Howard Schulte quit smoking pipes in 1985, but continues to repair and restore them. He sounds like a fun old guy! He said at 6-bowls a day he just “felt like a walking chimney” and decided he’d had enough.

Just got home and am off for the weekend and don't have anything planned Monday. Had to have steroid shots in my back and neck yesterday and am really sore today. It will be nice to take it easy for a few days.

Nothing like spine shock absorber fluid for relief after the burn calms down.

I wonder if Josh is going for a million miles and I get a free car so they can figure out what they did wrong to make a million mile car. I had a g20 chevy with a 292 six the speedo quit working at 600,000 and I drove it a few more years. It was addicted to starting fluid two squirts and started right up, small radiator leak the whole time I owned it. No AC, power steering and had to add the switches for the dome light. I called it the Janky van.

Its paid for, parts are cheap and readily available, insurance is cheap, it's fairly easy to work on,thelist goes on and on.
Plus, working on my car gives me "me time." As aggravating as some things can be, it keeps me outta my own head. I've found that to be pretty important these days.

I get that. Colder than a witches teet in a brass bra here in the swamp at 36. Giant mug at desk with Irish cream to keep my nose warm along with gas heat to keep the rest of me warm. Today is laundry day and we are still trying to find a good one that fluff and folds and hangs all the things that need hanging. My sink repairs are not leaking so I need to get that cabinet door put back on.

A bit chilly at 25 this morning but is supposed to get to the upper 40's today. Going to clean and refill the hot tub and get it going. Been missing using it since I've been beating myself up lately. Hopefully I'll be able to loosen up some sore muscles and joints.

24 degrees this morning. 70 percent chance of rain turning to snow late today, tonight and tomorrow.
Enjoying a pot of Yorkshire Red Label tea with milk, no sugar. No food until Noon. Trying for an 18 hour period between meals to clear out the liver and guts.

34 degs in Cajunland, Sunny, mild NE wind 5 to 10 mph. Really cold last night , let Buddy out around 9, Petey our spastic cat was in t(e cold on top of my chair coushion, all the rest of the cats were on the back porch huddled up. Petey stayed on my mind so at 12:30 I went out on porch, he was gone, was gonna throw a blanket in shower stall and let him spend the night. This morning no Petey, hope he’s holed up somewhere warm.
