Left work at 3 to go to the vet. We had to say goodbye to the last of our original 4 huskies that came with us from Oregon. Sad day, but at 14 with a bad infected tumor she couldn't tolerate any surgery. I know how sad that is. Doggies do not live long and we love them so much. So hard to say Good Bye.

They leave a hole in your heart...but you gave them the chance at happiness...and that is all you can do for them. Think of it that way and the pain is not so great...still there but with a special feeling that you gave it your all. My "children" are buried in the back of my property where I can visit them and feel their spirits with me.

Has anybody heard from PeterD-Buffalo Spirit lately? Having just got back myself...was wondering where he was...he has some outstanding pipes and his art that he posts is, for me, very inspirational.
Hope nothing is wrong in his family again.

Mine are buried in the yard without a monument. Maybe a rock pile. Weeds eventually grow over.

When we were going to move my son wanted to dig up his IG and have her cremated. Another reason why we didn't pursue it. Got most of my BIL sitting by the TV. Several small portions were shipped to family out of state and we have what's left. 😕

I find Carter Hall hard to beat... Shame it's not available over here. If a package is needed for delivery, please advise. You're too kind. I've one packet that I'm waiting for the right time to open.

Last night I decided to start inventory again. Everything got scattered and thrown in random tubs when I made my quick exit.
I started with Vas and VaPers. After digging through 5 tubs, I managed to pull them all out. I have 199 jars in that category... each jar is 2-4 ounces. I figured I'm good on those for now, but when I got to Old Dominion and 558 I'm not pleased with the small amount. I could have swore I had more. Tins haven't been included .... yet
I get the weekend with my 3 littles, so the tobacco is going to have to hold off. I'm on cloud 9.

All schools in the area are closed today, along with the UofH, the court system and more. Houston averages 870 million gallons of water a day, with a limit of 1.2 billion gallons. Most of the city is having to boil drinking water. Luckily for us, at the edge of the county, we have a well.

Goats, horses, cattle, I drag way out into the pasture or across the road into the old gravel quarry. The coyotes here are highly efficient and in no time at all there is little trace of any animal. They need to eat, too. I usually bury the donkeys.

Tosh, I understand your thinking on the larger livestock. I bury my sweet dogs because they were all rescue dogs and I promised them in life that they would always have a home...in life and death both. I'm probably crazy, but I feel their spirits when I go out to the gravesites....the other neighbor dogs seem to sense it also as they come over to look. They don't bark at me, as though they sense it is a reverence moment.
But you are right about the coyotes...they have to eat and maybe it keeps them busy and don't bother the livestock that is walking around.

I like that folks around here think I'm nuts...keeps them from bothering me and mine. Beautiful day here in Tall. 31° this morning and 65° this afternoon and bright and sunny....love this weather.

Beautiful day here in SE Texas, but I am feeling poorly today. Upset stomach and dizzy. Haven't been out to catch anything.

Went back to the sawbones today had to get a chest Xray for pneumonia. I told the doc now prescribe some medicine to keep me out of the hospital. If you want to send me to the hospital just have the girls up front call every two hours and wake me up so it will be just like being there. Two shots, Nasonex, Sugar infused cough syrup with codeine and a bigger Zpac. All being enjoyed in the comfort of my own shelter.

Cool here in Carolina today. The high temp was only 46.I walked but I wasn't exactly warm..My walk takes me a bit over an hour. That doesn't seem like a long time but I was feeling the cold before I got finished..Same tomorrow then it is supposed to warm up some..This old body of mine hopes so..It's a bit hard for me to believe now that I dealt with the cold Michigan weather for 40 years.

An upstairs water leak exposed a problem that has been in place for a long time, the demolition crew comes tomorrow and we are getting a new bathroom out of it. The contractor told us that our homeowners insurance who is Ameriprise/ Costco is a good company to work with. He said that State Farm is a nightmare, they fight tooth and nail to deny claims, the only instance he saw where it went off without a hitch was for a millionaire customer that had 10 policies for 10 properties. He said that USAA goes way beyond what is the minimum requirement and they have an incredible track record for taking care of their clients...if you are in the military or have a family member that served, I believe they will allow you to get a policy.

USAA is indeed a decent company. I used to have them, I had a couple wrecks so I was let go till my record improves. I will say it was not easy getting them to pay out the under insured motorist claim, but then they were getting hit from both sides because the kid that pulled out in front of me was also a USAA customer.
In the end it dinged my rates anyhow. I wasn't aware that a claim against my policy affects my rates even when the accident isn't my fault; though from a purely numbers and risk factor outlook it makes perfect sense.
