An upstairs water leak exposed a problem that has been in place for a long time, the demolition crew comes tomorrow and we are getting a new bathroom out of it. The contractor told us that our homeowners insurance who is Ameriprise/ Costco is a good company to work with. He said that State Farm is a nightmare, they fight tooth and nail to deny claims, the only instance he saw where it went off without a hitch was for a millionaire customer that had 10 policies for 10 properties. He said that USAA goes way beyond what is the minimum requirement and they have an incredible track record for taking care of their clients...if you are in the military or have a family member that served, I believe they will allow you to get a policy. Yikes buddy. That's annoying... At least you're getting a new bathroom for it.

I am already as mean as a bear woken from a long nap along with active BS detector options. Bought new Motorola RZAR Folding phones today with a ETA of 3 to 5 weeks. Wife's phone is three years old mine is over six. Punk at Version store was about shite worthless even copped a attitude about transferring data for two other phones we looked at. Being a angry bear I decided to let him live and ordered the darn things over the phone in front of him from Verizon. No need to concern yourself if placing them on your stock order is to much trouble and yes you just missed out on a giant commission sale. Yes I know no one has them in all of Houston, yes I know they are on back order. But dang it we don't buy tech very often and that is the phone we want and now the wife has seen it. Shopping went much smoother at Kroger and Academy Sports and I scored a Plano 50cal box and some new knife hones.

I had a late night last night as youngest was in a dodge ball competition. Then up at 6:30 to get the train to Belfast to go to a day conference. Met the wife and kids in town and had dinner with friends before driving back home. I'm pooped now. Sitting with a glass of wine ready to fall asleep.
At least I don't have to work tomorrow...no wait, that's right, I do!!!!

Spent the day answering questions posed by the Department of Agriculture concerning our farm irrigation system which I manage. Not knowing the answers to many quesdtions, the day was spent on Google Earth measuring the length of canals and ditches. I am sure this is vital to someone. Not me. A good guess sufices.

Heading out soon and have a light day ahead. I have a grill to install and will be the last job I do for an 8 year customer. He sold both his diners and I'm making sure everything is good to go for the new owners. I'm kind of sad he sold out but understand he doesn't want to do it anymore. After 8 years he was more a friend than a customer and I'm happy for him being able to get out on his terms.

I was in foodservice distribution for over 20 years, and it is remarkable how many restaurants fail in the first year, and to hit a 5 year mark is not common overall, that is a tough business, if he had two diners for all them years he was doing things right. I was told that being in the business corrupted my view as compared to other businesses that have a similar rate... it just seemed like a lot.

Happy Texas Independence Day! Back at you!! I was tailgated by a Texan in a pick-up truck most of the way from home last night. Eventually, he found the courage to pass me. I waved in a polite way. He did not see me. I love it when they come here and bring their "good manners" with them. That aside, I wish all Texans and a Happy Independence Day and remember the ones I like- Lady Byrd Johnson, Frank Hamer, Townes Van Zandt, Waylon Jennings, Patsy Ann McClenny and a few others.

They tailgate here too. Of course no one in NM is in a big enough hurry to even drive the speed limit.

My son and I went to town today where I made a good deal on a handgun in a pawnshop, then we went to a farm/ranch store where we got a couple pairs of new Wranglers and some needed horse tack. I gave some riding lessons to 3 teenage girls for a friend yesterday as a favor (I dont remember teenage girls being such a pain in the neck), and when I got home from town, the friend came over and handed me $200.00 payment for the lessons. They said they got paid for the lessons, but since I did the work, they couldnt in good concience keep the money. I just wanted to help, but I have good friends.
The friend is their regular instructor, but recently had a pretty serious surgery.
I enjoyed some Old Dad in my Joe Case bent apple, and a day of talking horses with my 18 yo son, who is training now too.
All-in-all, a good time was had by all.

Welcome to modern Taos New Mexico. I know that house. The street is paved now. The early 1960s, I am guessing from her Beehive hairdo.

Playing with a old Spyderco knife that I put a nice edge on. Those new fangled diamond stones work pretty fast, after that a Arkansas Stone that is very hard. Having lunch with a friend today for something to do. Enjoy the day folks.
