It finally warmed up enough for me to service my truck. Into the greasepit went I. The shed is open on one side so it is cold in winter. While I am under the truck working, several cats came and sat on the edge of the pit watching me work. I am the most interesting human in their llives. Got all the grease fittings. Filter, 15 quarts of synthetic 15w-40, fuel filter, air filter. ABout $220 in materials alone. Glad to get it done. I want this truck to last the rest of my life.

WOW, John...that is a lot of oil...does you engine require that much or was some of it for an oil bath air filter? Just smoked the maiden voyage of the new bulldog that I got from Ron....smoked impeccably well.

Yeah, my 1995 F350 Powerstroke takes 15 quarts too. I use synthetic, Rotella T6. I had a friend once that said he didnt want to be super rich, just rich enough to be able to change his oil as needed. An oil change by itself is a minimum $100.00 for me, and I do the work myself.

Just got back from town. I picked up some cheap Garcia y Vega cigars while at the grocery store. I had a couple of high-end (for me) cigars last week, and I had to bring me down a peg or 2 and remind myself of the manure on my boots and horsehair on my vest. Dont wanna start gettin' so posh I cant stand myself.
Pawn shop had their computers down or something, couldnt pick up the .44

It is a lot of oil. Good engine.

Had a great day yesterday and the weather was outstanding. Sunny and 66. Today is all rain and dropping temps but it is still winter in Ne Ohio so I'll take the nice days when I get them. Have to change out an ice machine for a long time customer today. I felt horrible telling him it was bad because the last year he has had to replace a lot of equipment and business is down right now. I'm giving him the machine at cost to help him out and only charging for material to install it. He's been with me 13 years going back to when I worked for a service company and came over when I went out on my own. Always pays me when I'm done and has become more a friend than customer over the years so I figure it won't hurt to help a friend out.

You're a good man, Ken...always good to help out a friend/customer...it all becomes like "family".

Beautiful morning in SE Texas today. K-Pop group NCT-127 is going to be at the Rodeo tonight? Culture Shock! These Korean groups have names like a virus. Could there a connection??? 🤯

Daughter calls asks if there is warranty on the TV she stole from me. Calls the wife and complains she has to buy a new TV. Calls me back tells me her birthday is in August so i tell her to buy her very own TV. Calls again so I ask about my plate I never got back from two years ago and tell her to make her boyfriend use his money.

Alas, the other two ARE working finally and contributing so I suppose I shouldn't complain too awfully much.

In my daughters case it is more about frugal and cheap if it involves her money. I swear that girl has the first dollar she ever stole from me. I say that it jest because she has a very very good job and so does her boyfriend. I wish she lived closer so she could take me to lunch and let me pay.

Our son is disabled and pays rent out of his disability, which is my social security.

My last son is still at home, but he's only 18. He eats like a mule, but I work him like one, so it evens out. We finally just got finished repairing the exhaust under the truck, and he did the lion's share of the heavy lifting. Hes a good boy.

My twin Son who is a Surgical Tech came home from Houston to help us out in our old age. He wanted to pay his share , told him if we need I’ll ask. Saveing money to buy a modular home on the farm. He helps his Mom out , yard work, I do the cutting, never trusted the kids with my mowers, that’s why they lasted so long. He’s in his early fifties, settled, , his Mom loves to cook for him.

Have to meet with my lawyer tomorrow to try to get 5K that's owed me from a job I did 3 months ago. I already have a judgement against the guy but he still hasn't paid in the 30 days he was ordered to pay so I have to file to get permission to remove the equipment. I have to admit after going through all the hassle to get paid with no result I do love showing up with a Sheriff's Deputy and a crane to get my equipment back. Got my situation resolved. He ended up paying me so I didn't have to take the equipment. Pretty thankful I got the money because I really didn't want the equipment and it was pouring rain today.

The daughter used the boyfriends money and they bought a new TV after work. She is a smart cookie with two years of law and working on a masters degree and a regional manager for a very large eyewear conglomerate. Dustin has been hanging around for a good ten years and runs a security server for the USAF as a private contactor. Dustin is father approved unlike the first short lived husband. They are both so frugal I will end up clothing the grand babies and yes I am bragging as they are both under 25.

The Pepto Bismol mine sits at the base of that large mountain. I have ruined many a tire exploring that area.

I see that it's between Rhyolite and Mercury. Don't they know that there's a water shortage out west?
