I love a happy ending, dateline Houston: It's funny that he thought he could shoot the lock out of a metal door with a handgun. He sure changed his tune the F'n coward. "Luck Favors the prepared" It is good to see that the ladies were so, and that that numbskull was probably more tactically in tune on how his saggy pants hung.

Hey, it works on TV! Exactly, right? ๐ And car doors provide an effective defense against bullets, the best ballistic shield ever invented!, they just magically spark off the doors!

Long time ago I showed my son what a car door is and is not, in the marsh was an abounded car, my mini-14 cocked and locked I blew the door off, the surprised look on my 10 yr old son was something that stayed with me, told him don't believe al that TV crap.

In 1971 I drove a 1950 Chevy truck like that. Many .45 bullet holes in the hood and driver's door. Once, I was stopped by an elderly CHP officer (that is "California Highway Patrol", bub). He appeared to be a veteran of more than a few car chases and shoot outs. After looking me over, he examined those bullet holes carefully with particular attention paid to the rust spots on the torn metal. Then he turned to me and said, "Bet you paid extra for them".

Heading out to the new house with another load today. It's going to be hot and humid. We probably won't get everything unloaded for a couple of days. Got to install a new window unit AC and put my son's bed together. Then headed back home for another load. What fun! ๐

Working on our "new to us" pop up camper. Wife did a great job on the interior. I fixed cracks in the roof using M.E.K. melted ABS pellets (MEK melts them into an ABS goo that dries back into white ABS). Made a new dinette table with folding legs (major pain in the arse). Now, my buddy and I need to rebuild the front storage compartment. This should be fun... Not.

I understand. Years ago I thought Spirits moved through the wires to produce light and heat. About 15 years ago, I took a class on Electrical Wiring offered at our local college campus (UNM). It was meant for Journeymen Electricians and their academic requirements for a license. I learned the basics and have done all my own residential and farm wiring, troubleshooting and repairs ever since. All the high voltage AC stuff. I enjoy working with electricity now and find it logical.

I have done all my own wiring for the last 45 years. I read a book on it. I still don't get 3-way switches, but I am good on everything else. Main issue with ceiling fans is having to hold stuff over my head while I wire it. I will probably try to get the kitchen light on a single switch this week.

Drove the 250 miles to the new place, unloaded the trailer and truck and mowed most of the yard. Son helped with the trailer and went to bed.

The old house is looking really good! ๐ About 1 more trip before we can call the movers. Then I still have to move my shop and that will be 2 or 3 trips. So I'm driving 4-5 thousand miles at 500+ miles each trip. Good thing I don't mind driving when there is no traffic.

I spent the afternoon working on the screwed-up wiring on this horse trailer I just bought. Why is it I seem to have to re-wire every single trailer I get? And its not from wear and tear. Its from people who dont know what they're doing trying to "fix" it.
I hate working on trailer wiring. Can you tell? ๐

Can you tell? ๐ Reminds me of when I rewired the lights on my 1964 For F-650 Flat Bed Dump truck. There were tail running lights, brake lights, turn lights, back up lights. I put each pair of lights on their own circuit, with their own breaker and their own switch. The back up lights were the brightest so they had a relay. You know what, they worked great.

Probably my favorite gun to shoot. Handy, with 30 round mags, no recoil. It got bad press from WWII veterans that thought it lacked the "punch" of the M1 Garand. And to be fair, it does lack the punch. But...it is not an impotent round as some WWII vets claimed the round bounced off of the frozen uniforms of Chinese soldiers in the Korean war. www.americanrifleman.org/articles/2016/11/14/an-m1-carbine-for-home-defense/

This trailer, however, is a 26' gooseneck 3-horse slant with full living quarters. Its a little...complex. Its about a 15-$18,000.00 trailer that I got for $10,000.00 at 350.00 month payments w/no interest. So this wiring is one reason I got such a good deal. It's worth it, but its still an agrevation tracking everything down. I can only do a couple hours at a time, before my temper starts boiling up and I gotta walk away.

It should have the same energy out of a 16" barrel as a 357,but it was only good for punching tiny holes in things. Now that you can get soft or HP ammo it should be as effective as a 327 Federal at least.

Well, we had to move from our last house as the taxes got too expensive. The one we moved into and lived in for the last 15 years wasn't meant to be permanent, but inexpensive to maintain with low utility bills. It did all that and allowed us to pay off all our debts and save money. The one we are moving into should be home until we have to go in a nursing home. Or until we decide that we need a tiny house.

Marine combat veteran Platoon Leader of the Korean War. Awarded The Navy Cross, Silver Star and two Purple Hearts. Around 1980 he commented that the M1 Carbine was the perfect self defense weapon for Senior Citizens. This in response to a story about two elderly brothers robbed at gun point in their home and pistol whipped. Pete felt most Senior would have no trouble "wielding the Carbine". I always planned to follow his advice as he has been kind of hero of mine since my teenage years. Since I ended up with a .44 mag Ruger Deerfield carbine, I probably do not need the M1 Carbine. If I cannot settle the problem with five rounds of .44 mag, I am in over my head. Especially with a Redhawk for backup.

weeks are busy enough during this strange period - getting everything prepared, filmed, edited, uploaded etc. etc. But today I also have a wedding to do which pushes things to the extreme.
Numbers are dropping for the online services too - I think the novelty has worn off
But I'm off on annual leave next week so I can't wait for that. Might go surfing for the first time in YEARS!
