Nothing says I love you like a matching pair of Walther's in his and hers. I don't do AR but i do do AK74 nothing strikes fear in the world like the singing of the 5.45×39mm the sound is unmistakable.

I am glad that I bought my Colt LE 6920 SOCOM M4 when I did for $1200.00...they stopped making them and they are now going for upwards of 2K.

Sadly it never materialized.

I have tried my wife on 3 autos and she just refuses to learn. First wife was crackerjack with a 1911. I am going to end up getting her a J-frame of some kind. Probably DAO. Shweetie is NOT mechanically inclined. She's a very good shot with anything you put in her hands, but not...mechanical. Ive taken away all autos from her, and she carries a .38 DA revolver. I dont like this particular revolver very much, and will be replacing it for her with something better, but the new one will still be a .38 DA revolver. She can pull it out, point it, and shoot it. She prefers earing back the hammer and shooting SA, as its easier with her little hands, but can shoot it DA as well. Its much safer than putting a Glock or other striker fired weapon in her purse.(shudder) My wife can shoot the autos just fine, but as soon as it's empty, she's lost. Maybe I'll try a Ruger LCP. Those are as simple as a revolver.

My daughter is a crack shot she has most of the guns which is fine they were just living in a safe anyway. I wish she lived closer so I could visit all my stuff.

I had an LCP and it was a good p and close gun when yo have a hard time carrying, but it was too small, and the sight radius didn't work for me.
Maybe not a problem for your wife.

It's one of the guns that I keep forgetting that I own. It's pretty accurate, but you basically have to sight it like a shotgun. She would only need it for up close and personal. I quit carrying it when I got the 9mm. I can shoot that one better than my old Model 52 Master. I wouldn't take a head shot across a church with the LCP, but I would in a second with the R51.

I got a gun for my wife yesterday. Best trade I ever made! Hopefully you didn't get a plain old revolver for her. Maybe a nice Luger? Unfortunately no, she had gained a little weight and was aging like milk

Good luck finding 9mm, 38 or 357 right now, unless it's a case of 1,000 rounds for $400 or a box of Remchester Whiz-Bang at $2.00 a round

On that note, I am off to the reloading room to assemble some 9mm, .357 and 38 Special.

I have about 900 rounds of .44 Magnum. A good and useful cartridge in revolver or carbine.
Maybe 60 of 8mm Mauser and 40 of 6.5 X 55 mm Krag.
A heap O' 12 gauge 00, 000, slug 2 3/4, 3, 3 1/2 inch.
I gottem three swords and a bad attitude.
I am ready.

This talk about guns has made me realize that having mine in a drawer on the other side of the room from my bed wasn't by best option. My head board is made of wood with 3 inch square posts..Just wide enough to fasten a holster to..Now I can just reach over grab my 380 and be ready..I just hope I never have to use it.

So, are the guys that say another advantage of 9mm or .38 or .223 is that, if things go bad, you can always find ammo, wrong? The common calibers are precisely the ones you cannot find, and we should all have a 10mm or Tokarov or something?
I just checked luckygunner.com. No .357 at all. For .38, only thirteen 1,000 round cases of 125gr TMJ Speer Lawman for $370 each.
9mm wasn't much different: 1 option in 200 round cases (Speer Gold Dots for $235), 1 500 round option (Federal FMJs for $205), and 3 1,000 round options ($395 for TMJ, $800 for the two defensive options).
Then again, no 10mm or Tokarov at all.

We have stock's of ammo. I have some 357,but currently no 357 revolver. I have a Tokarev, and both FMC and HP ammo for it. Why wait until a rainy day to buy an umbrella?

Because you're poor If you can afford to buy it now, stick that money aside now and buy it as soon as it becomes available. It won't go bad. Then buy a box once a month or every other month until you have a supply. I picked up some 9mm for $10/50 rounds on sale. That's 30¢/day. Or figure regular price one every 2 months. 25 centsaa day. If you consider it to be one of the most important needs then you can do it. If you can't, you have bigger problems and I wish I could help. But you have to think ahead. One of my problems is that I think of the worst-case-scenario first and assign it the highest priority.

Not to be macabre, but if things truly, truly go south, you find the common rounds, the 9mm, .223 etc on the ground in spare mags some well-stocked, well-intentioned soul wont need anymore. Thats why all police departments and militaries issue their members with weapons of the same make and calibers. I wore the badge for a while, years ago. There is more to this than folks often like to think about.

Everyone is working together right now. We are not close to a breakdown of civilization from the pandemic. We'll get through this just fine, eventually. But I would definitely find some ammo before the next election.

My philosophy on self-arming is like that of a lot of other things. I dont see me suffering from a housefire tonight, but I still have smoke detectors and a fire extinguishers. We have good tires and dont expect a flat, but carry a spare.

We have good tires and dont expect a flat, but carry a spare. That has always been my philosophy as well. I may never need to use my firearms in self defense. But then I may never have need for a fire extinguisher either... Oh wait I needed one of those for a car fire... Dang...

I like single action revolvers in .45 LC but I just bought a New Ruger Bearcat Shopkeeper in .22 Long. Old beer cans now quake in terror at my approach.

Did not have to worry about ammo. Got 4400 rounds of 22, 1200 rounds of 9mm, and my favorite 1700 rounds of 45. Love my 1911.
